It was like sand slipping through my fingers. Slowly and then all at once. My fingers goes up to the wound. Blood. A lot of blood. To much. As I stand here, there isn't much that makes much sense. They say that when you'll see your life all over again. And that's what happened.
When I was a little kid I lived with my mother and my sister. My dad was taken away when I was one, my sister never got to meet him. We lived as a happy little family. Or as happy as we could've gotten. The house we lived in was old and rotten. It stood far inside the forest called The Blackwood forest. My sister was a year younger than me and we loved go fishing together. But one time when we were about to go fishing we knew something was wrong. The path to the road was different. Dead rats were lying on the ground and we could see two rabbits hanging from a tree far above us. We were about to run back home, but before I could turn around my sister was lying on the ground with the rats. After that everything got blurry. I fell down on my knees and held her hand.My eyelids slowly opened, but the more I opened my eyes the more I remembered. The dead rats, the rabbits in the trees and my sister. My sweet little sister. She would never get the chance to live her dream. She would never get a farm nor hold a goat. Never wake up again. I wanted to cry so badly, but I was to angry. I wanted to find the people who did it to her. I wanted to find them and get revenge my sister. It wasn't until I was about to find my jacket and walk outside my door that I realized I hadn't slept in my room. This wasn't my house. The breath I felt in my neck wasn't my mother. I stumbled out of the bed. A bed made out of something that smelled like dirt. And as I was looking around I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was. A small door was on the other side of the room. I ran toward it, but a hand stopped me. ''I wouldn't've done that if I were you. As much as a small step out of here without permission and you'll have to live with some pretty big scars on your back that will hurt like hell'', the man's voice wasn't as intimidating as I thought it would be. It almost felt as if I'd heard the voice before. Before I could ask him what he was talking about, a loud knock thundered through the dark room. The man grabbed my arm and shoved me beside him. I wasn't sure what I would've expected, but when the door opened I felt a hint of relief, but there was something about the smile on his mouth that made me very unsure.
''GET OUT AND START WORKING!'', the man yelled. The next thing I knew, I was dragged by the man that had been sleeping beside me, out of the room, through the door and out in the sun. I slowly tilted my head close to his ear.
''What is happening? Who is that man and what am I doing here?'' there was a big silence before he opened his mouth. He looked down at me.
''What happened to you I don't know. That man is Craig. He is the owner of this farm. Unfortunately the reason you are here is because you are black, just as me. Craig and all his white friends will beat you and whip you and scream at you and if you don't do as they say... Well let's just say that you don't want to know what happens if you don't do as they say.'' After that, I didn't say another word. I was too afraid. So I did as the leaders said, and I never questioned them. Not until 10 years later.10 years later
I turned around and looked at the farm. Pollux was standing beside me. ''No more work'', he said. Even though I couldn't see much in the dark, I knew he was smiling. Ever since I suggested that we should run away from the farm, he'd always said that it would've been too dangerous. That he was too old. But I wasn't planning on staying on the farm. And I would not let the man that had helped me through everything ever since I had woken up inside the room be left alone. I was not going to leave him alone.
''Yeah, it's finally over. No more work, no more pain and best of all, no more sleeping on dirt'', I laughed a bit on the last comment. ''Let's start. We should be as far away from the farm as possible before they realize we've run away.''I lost track of time as we walked further into the woods. Pollux kept twisting his fingers as if something was wrong, but I wasn't sure if I should've asked him what the problem was or if I just should've kept walking. But now as I look down on my shirt I feel stupid. I should've understood that Pollux is crazy. He was always nervous when I found the plans for our runaway plan. The smile on his face when we jumped over the fence was probably relief. That he finally could have an opportunity to shoot me without getting caught. But what I don't understand is why he helped me. Why he was always so nice to me. ''Why'', the words feels lost on my tongue.
''I had to. They were going to torture you, find you and punish you for running away. You wouldn't even make it through this forest before you would've been caught'', he says. But I don't believe a word of what he is saying. Behind him a small shadow appears. It's a girl. It's my sister. Pollux is gone and for a small moment I'm back with my sister as a child. Her black hair is braided into two small braids. She reaches out her hand and I take it. And then we start running into nothing but everything.

Ficción históricaA story I wrote in 2014 in school! I haven't gone through it, so there is probably a lot of mistakes in it! It's about a slave and something... Don't feel like writing a caption! (It's from the segregation in America) Also, I'm Norwegian so don't...
