"Is it dumb that I'm, like, crazy nervous?" Bee looked across the room to where her best friend Minx was sat stroking her pet cat, Cornelius. Minx just rolled her eyes.
"No, seriously, Minx. I'm shitting bricks." Bee shot a pleading look at the Irish girl. God, could she not just be helpful this once?
Minx stood up, brushing down her dress and pulling her auburn hair over her left shoulder. "You're gonna be fine, dickwad. You look hot anyway."
Bee turned and took in her reflection in the full length mirror that was leaning against the wall of the Airbnb room they were staying in. She smiled secretly to herself. Minx was right, she did look hot. She was wearing a lowcut corset and grey low waisted jeans. Black fishnets peeped out above the waistline and her feet were fitted in white buffalos. Bee cringed slightly. Not her preferred shoe choice, but she hadn't packed anything else and Minx was a size 7, almost three sizes bigger than her, so she couldn't borrow something anyway. Her makeup looked decent too, she had to admit. Her pale grey eyes were outlined in thick black and contrasted amazingly against her paper-white skin. The light smattering of freckles over her nose bridge was still visible under the dusting of pink powder placed on top, and her perfectly shaped lips were brought together in a pout as she admired the subtle lipstick she was wearing. She'd never really thought of herself as anything but average, but tonight she felt different. She felt weirdly unstoppable.

"Hurry up, oh my god." Minx sighed, watching Bee pack and repack her bag for what felt like the hundredth time.
"Alright, alright. I'm coming. Keep your wig on Becca." Bee smirked, standing up from the bed and giving her friend's hair a tug.
"I swear to fuck-" Minx joked, grabbing Bee's arm and dragging her towards the door.
"One sec, one sec." Bee stopped in front of the mirror to get one final look. Her almost black hair fell around her shoulders in waves and the dark pink face framing strands fell in her face as she leant closer to check her eyeliner. Her reflection grinned back at her, satisfied. She looked hot. Hotter than she ever had. Damn Minx had done her good with the makeup.
Minx groaned impatiently. "Bee I'm going to fucking drag you out to the Uber by your hair you narcissistic-"
"No honestly I'm coming!" Bee cut her off with a squeal.
"Fucking finally."
"Yeah whatever, come on."

The Uber smelt vaguely of stale leather and polo mints. Bee settled into the seat next to Minx with a sigh. Her best friend looked at her immediately.
"What?" Minx asked with a quizzical look.
"Just nerves honestly." Bee smiled, looking down at her nails that were already chewed to shreds.
"It's because of him isn't it?" Minx chuckled and grabbed her friends hand, stopping her from attacking her nailbeds further.
Bee squeezed Minx's hand but it didn't settle the uneasy feeling in her stomach. Him. Nick. Sapnap. The boy she had been in love with for almost two years now, although he didn't know it. She felt as if she were waiting to board a rollercoaster. Or as if she were about to receive some really bad news. Bee hated anticipation. She had had diagnosed anxiety since she was twelve and washing down sertraline once a day only just took the edge off. She could feel it all over. The quiet vibrations. The thudding heartbeat. The overwhelming nausea. But it was merely an afterthought these days. She had her coping mechanisms, her pills, her friends. She was okay. And anyway she kinda liked this feeling. The low hum of her thoughts spiralling through her head and the electric excitement coursing through her veins. Anticipation wasn't a bad thing. Who knew what the night held in store?
