All Bee could do was grip Clay's arm and stare at him in awe. Damn he was like a thousand times prettier than his pictures and that was saying something. Clay grinned back, his arm still around her shoulder. He guided her over to a sofa where a couple Bee didn't recognise were sat making out. She gave them a disgruntled smile as she perched on the edge. Clay sat next to her, arm still draped across her shoulders as if it were the most natural thing on earth.
"So," He began, removing his arm and turning to face her. "We have a lot of catching up to do, huh?"
Bee smiled up at him and, looking into the kind twinkle of his eyes, felt immediately at home. "Yeah, this is crazy. I can't believe we are actually in the same room right now!" She grinned.
"Where's Minx?" He asked, scanning the room.
"Probably off with Niki somewhere being a bad influence." Bee giggled.
"Sounds about right," The older man smirked. "You want to come and meet everyone?"
Bee couldn't help the wave of nerves that suddenly overcame her. Clay must've noticed that she was uneasy because he took her hand in his, reassuringly.
"We can take it slow Bee, I understand."
Bee exhaled, relieved. Of course Clay would get it. He'd been there for countless panic attacks when they were on call. She squeezed his hand gratefully.
The music was still pounding, Snoop Dogg's Young, Wild & Free this time. There was still no sign of Minx amongst the crowds of young couples and groups of dancing friends. Clay was still sat on the couch next to Bee and, for the first time, she noticed the red solo cup in her best friend's right hand. Liquid confidence. That's what she needed. Clay followed her gaze and, without question, held out the cup.
"What is it?" She asked, doubtfully. She wasn't an alcohol snob, in fact she spent many a night getting fucked in the flat she shared with Minx back in London.
"Honestly, I have no idea. Something Fundy brought I'm pretty sure. It does the job." Clay admitted.
"Fundy brought it? Not sure I trust it then" Bee joked, lifting the cup to her nose and sniffing. It smelt like cheap vodka. She was for sure going to regret this in the morning, Fuck the morning, she thought, bringing the white rim to her lips and gulping. The contents tasted like a mix of paint stripper and hand sanitizer but she continued to chug until the cup was empty. Shuddering, Bee set the cup on a stool nearby and turned back around to face Clay. His mouth was wide open in shock, and there was definitely a hint of admiration there.
"Damn girl." He laughed, his eyes wide as saucers.
Bee could drink yes, but she was also a huge lightweight and she had just chugged the equivalent of about four or five shots. She felt the warmth start to creep up her torso. The tingling in her head.
"What? Never seen a girl drink before?" She rolled her eyes down at the blonde man who was still sat on the couch.
"Not like that." He admitted.
The music seemed to have gotten louder and it flooded Bee's veins, thrilling her. Her nerves were forgotten as she leant down to ruffle Clay's hair and then offered him a hand. He raised an eyebrow before sighing and taking it. Bee had to admit she felt really good in that moment. The alcohol was beginning to take it's toll and she felt weirdly unstoppable.
Moving her body to the beat of the music, Bee guided Clay out to a space on the floor and held her arms out for him to dance with her. Chuckling, he wrapped his arms around her waist and joined her in moving to the music.
"You're crazy." Clay yelled in her ear, trying to overpower the deafening music.
"Good!" Bee screamed in response, moving closer to Clay until their bodies were mere centimetres apart and throwing her head back and squealing.
She could feel herself growing drunker and drunker every second, it was amazing. The energy that was running through her was like nothing she'd ever felt before and the thudding bass of the music was only spurring her on. If only Minx could see her, she'd be so proud. Her thoughts were starting to blur but she had this new found confidence that she wanted to test out.
"Clay?" She muttered into the blonde's ear.
"Yeah?" He replied, pushing the girl back gently.
"Take me to meet everyone." Bee murmured.
Clay raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
"Yep. Let's go!" She confirmed, firmly twining her fingers though Clay's and dragging him towards the crowds.
After about five minutes of scanning the crowds, Clay saw his group of friends. They were sat on another group of couches across the other side of the room from where they had been dancing.
"Hey guys!" He called over to them, pulling Bee along beside him.
Her heart was in her throat as her eyes flickered over the group of people.
"Dream, get over here!" A familiar voice yelled. Bee could put a face to the voice immediately. Alex. "Bee? What the fuck!" Alex yelled.
Everyone else in the group immediately looked over, and Bee could make out who everyone was.
Alex, George, Bad, Schlatt, Karl, Skeppy and Fundy. And Sapnap.
Fuck.
