The heavy blow of his fist connects to the side of my face, causing me to tumble backwards into the wall. I slide down it and try to curl into a tight ball, try to protect myself, but before I can pain explodes from the side of my head. I hold back the urge to scream by biting the inside of my cheek as tears stream down my cheeks, soothing the pain the tiniest bit.

He yells at me, his words slurring even more as his face becomes bright red. He goes on about hating me, that everything is my fault. His angry face falters as he takes me in and I grip onto the hope that it means he is done, but he isn't. It's never that easy. He pulls my face toward him, his eyes scanning my face in slow motion. His lips are close to mine, I can smell his intoxicated breath.

"You look just like her." He whispers before crashing his cracked, rough lips to mine. I try to block him out, to ignore the fact that he is pulling my clothes off with speed and percision. I clench my teeth, trying to zone out. Pretending I am anywhere but here, pretending that I am happy. But, as always, it doesn't work.
