the death of a queen and the birth of a kingI was six when my mother was beheaded in 1552. At the time it seemed like my mother and father were deeply in love, but I guess that didn't hold true. My frail body had flung itself around her torso as she whispered a delicate goodbye into my ear.
Her final words had proclaimed my brother the King of Greece. Anger was on my fathers features but he didn't dare speak. His claim of adultery was enough to have Andromeda beheaded.
I had gripped onto my brothers hand in horror as we watched the executioner bring the blade down on my mother's neck. Her blonde hair fell forward covering her face. Crimson blood trickled down the stand into the basket which my mothers head resided. A shrill scream had escaped from my six year old throat. My brother wrapped his body around mine all while my father stood, a satisfied smirk on his face.
Over the years my father, Ivan IV had created the Tsardom of Russia, crowning himself the first Tsar in 1542. He had married my mother when he was 14, much like he expected Demetrius to do. I knew my brother and even at 10 he was stubborn, a trait I think I gained from him.
Demetrius was crowned King of Greece June 21st 1552. His coronation was a grand affair. As I child I saw colors, music and food, not truly understanding the burden that would lay on my brothers shoulders in a few short years. I watched as my brother walked up to the beautifully carved throne. A scepter held tightly in his hand and a crown placed firmly on his head. A small smile lined his face as the priest announced him King of Greece.
Shortly after the party began my father interrupted with announcements. A smug look rested on his built figure before he adjusted his crown. As a six year old I didn't want to hear the news he had to share ──my new betrothed. My mouth had fallen open and tears escaped my eyes. I did not want to marry Charles Valois. I knew nothing of the French family and ruthlessly begged my father to let me die alone, he denied any attempt I made.
Before my father could tell Demetrius his betrothed, my brother pulled the King card. Ivan told him he needed a Regent and demanded to be his. Demetrius was smart, smarter then me and even at 10 he knew that the idea of my father ruling two countries was a horrible idea. He already had a raging war in Russia and he was bound to start one in Greece, peaceful Greece.
Instead of my father he placed my mother's best friend in charge, Neilos Valli. The man was a kind one and held many of the same traits my mother had.
As the years progressed my brother turned fifteen, of age. Sadly I never got to see my brother ascend his throne fully. Curtsy of Ivan IV I was shipped off with Claude Valois to work on my behavior. I saw nothing wrong with being stubborn or strong headed in my opinions but apparently it was not lady like. Not that I gave a shit. If he wanted to send a ten year old away from her family fine by me. I hated him for the death of my mother anyway. Once I was old enough to finally realize what he did to my mother I was angry. She never did anything to him besides disagree with what he was doing in Russia. But like they said, Ivan the Terrible.
so this is chapter one and the format will be different from this chapter this was just like a back ground knowledge. :)
