I had not expected a knock on my window.
It scared the living shit out of me. I mean, I was reading, late at night, and out of nowhere someone knocks on my window! Nobody ever comes around my neighborhood, except my friends. My neighbors are all either old people in retirement or a newly wedded couple with little children. And for my friends, they would never knock on my window, especially at night. They would just walk in or knock on the front door.
I carefully placed the book down, making sure to fold a little crease in the corner to hold my place. My hands were shaking as I grabbed my bat under my bed. Hey, don't judge. I'm always prepared for situations like this.
I darted to my window, crouched down and scanned the yard. My heart was thumping fast, and there was a cool sweat lined on my back. I probably looked like a meerkat looking out of it's hole. A flashy object caught my attention, no, two flashy objects. I recognized these objects as a pair of hands waving around frantically. Then I realized the two hands belonged to, Chance!
I was confused. Why would he be here, at my house? Then it hit me. He doesn't know I'm still in high school. He probably thinks this is my own house. Crap! I cant let him know! He'll think I'm a stupid young slut who is trying to get older men.
I yelped as he popped out of nowhere. I landed on the ground with a thud. Once I controlled my rapid beating heart and breathes, I rolled up the window. The cool air nipped at my bare arms as I was wearing an old T-shirt and a pair of cotton shorts. I shivered and Chance silently ran over. He was wearing a nice Polo dress shirt with a pair of dark blue jeans. Goodness, he looked like a sex God. "Chance! What the hell are you doing here?"
He embraced me with bear hug. "Hope! Oh God, I desperately need you!" He smelt of, alcohol. Of course! That's why he is here. He is drunk! He wouldn't come to my house an other sober day for him.
I pull away and asked, "Why?"
"I can't stop thinking about you!" he replied. His beautiful blue eyes stared into mine. I'm sure he didn't mean that. He was drunk after all, but I still decide to ask. "What? Are you drunk?" Chance doesn't reply, so I think the worst. "Oh my goodness! I cant let you stay out here, you'll get yourself into trouble! Come on, hop over the sill and you can stay here."
He nods his head in agreement. I wrap my arms under his armpits and use both of our strength to get this man into my room. He was heavy, but not in a bad way. He was very bulky with muscles and he was very tall also. Eventually his upper body is halfway in the room and I move out of the way for him to land. Forgetting he is drunk and he doesn't have any sense in him, Chance's body fell limb on the hard floor. I freeze, hoping my mother didn't hear us, but when I don't hear anything, yet, I scolded Chance. "Shh! Be quiet!"
But when I thought everything was alright, my mom comes out of her room into the hallway. "Hope? Is that you? Why are you up?" she bombards me with questions. Luckily she is only standing in front of her room and from her view, you cant see anything in my room. Plus, she is probably too tired to notice what is going on.
"Crap," I mutter under my breathe,"Yes! I just fell! Don't worry about it!" I hear my mom mumble unknown words as she flicks the hall lights off that she turned on. "That was close," Chance says quietly. I pray frantically in my mind that he thinks I'm just staying over for the night.
"Tell me about it," I sarcastically say. I then remember I have an intoxicated fully grown man laying on the floor in my room. "How are you feeling?"
For a moment he didn't speak, only stared at me. It didn't really bother me, yet I took this time to focus on his facial features. His eyes, oh his eyes, are breathtaking. His dark eyelashes make the light blue color pop out. His sculpted jaw is so perfect with a dark five o'clock shadow outlining. And it took every ounce of my body not to slide my hands through his silky locks of black. To sum him up in one word: beautiful.
I didn't notice that my face was inching closer to Chance's until he spoke up. "I, I'm okay." I drew back quickly. My cheeks were burning of embarrassment.
"Well, you can stay here for the night, but you have to leave early in the morning," I pause, thinking about the sleeping arrangements,"and I'll sleep on the floor while you can take the bed."
But, Chance thought of other ideas. With a grin, he says,"That's not necessary, we'll sleep together." Without an answer from my mouth he reaches up, grabs me by my hips, and dives us safely under the bed covers. I tried, tried, to yank out of his hold, but he was way too strong. On the downside, I wasn't the strongest person in the world. "Fine," I sighed," but no funny business."
I could hear the laughter in his deep voice as he nips my ear with his teeth. "I would never," he replies. His large arms circle around my body and he rested his chin in the crook of my neck. I gently reach up and click off the lamp sitting on my side table. Within a minute I could hear the steady pace of breathing, next I doze off too.
