kamikos ringtone echoed through kenmas living room and everyone around her kept quiet, listening to her pick up the call from an unknown caller id.
"hello ?"
"is this kamiko-san ?"
"yes, how may i help you ?"
"ah kamiko-san, im from the japan national volleyball team and im calling today to congratulate you on getting the job ! we love what you did for the msby team and thought you would do amazing in promoting the national team."
"oh ... wait what ? im accepted ?"
kamiko stood up, hand covering her mouth in shock. getting a job on the national team is as hard as the boys being on the national team, so her shock isnt surprising, and that made the woman chuckle.
"yes, so do you think you can start work next monday ?"
"hell yeah ! i mean yes, yes i can. thank you so much !"
"alright then, see you soon."
after she hung up and sat back down, kamiko then noticed the stares she got from the guys around her.
"what happened ?"
"uhm the japan team accepted me !"
everyone except sakusa, kenma, kuroo and akaashi crowded around her and kept expressing their happiness by screeching into her ears.
"would you guys calm down." sakusa rolled his eyes and pulled hinata away from kamiko.
"whats going on ?" kuroo asked as he leaned towards her, confusion written on his face.
"shes going to be working with you !"
bokuto jumped onto his friend, feeling super excited that they would all be working together soon.
"congratulations kamiko-san."
"thank you akaashi-san !"
after the guys talked about their 'adventures' when they were in msby and cant wait to have more in the national team with her, they returned to their game.
kamiko looked at the empty pot of tea and stood up before walking towards the kitchen where she refilled it with more hot water.
"congratulations." she turned at the voice and smiled, realizing that it belongs to kenma.
"thank you."
"i was thinking we should celebrate it, since its pretty hard to get a job there."
"oh thats a good idea ! i'll ask the guys."
before she could leave the kitchen with the pot, he grabbed her wrist slightly, making her stop and turn to look at him.
"uhm ... i kinda meant just the two of us ? but if you want to do it when them as well then its fine."
"oh- no wait, we can do it, just the two of us."
kamiko looked up and smiled at kenma, feeling her face heat up at the intense staring coming from him and the thought of being with him, alone made her extremely nervous.
"thats not fair, we wanna celebrate too."
hinata peeked into the kitchen and smiled cheekily, followed by bokuto and atsumu.
"how about ... kenma and i spend the afternoon together and we can all meet up at night ?"
they nodded happily while hinata ran to tell the others the plan, and even calling the rest of their japan team along for the celebration tomorrow night.
"where do you wanna go ?"
"i kinda want to try this new boba shop at shinjuku."
"alright, ill pick you up at 12, send me your address later."
even though they've only talked online and its their first time having a conversation just by themselves in real life, it felt natural for them both.
and with that, kenma swiftly took the pot from her hands, not wanting her to burn herself and they walked back to the living room, hand still lingering on her wrist.
"kenma ! i heard youre having a date with chibi-chan tomorrow before meeting up with us."
kuroo asked with a smirk and smiled even more when he noticed his hand on her wrist and kamikos flushed face.
"yes, and what about it ?"
"huh ? youre having a date ?"
"we're having a date ?"
everyone asked kenma, shocked that their introverted and extroverted friend are going on a date so soon.
"but you've only just met !"
"uh actually kou, we've been talking ... a lot." kamiko gave an awkward smile and sat down on her spot again.
"this is unfair, youre getting a boyfriend before i get a girlfriend !"
"but youve got so many fangirls ! and isnt that okamura girl youve been telling me about interested in you ?"
that pulled loud exaggerated gasps out from atsumu and hinata.
"mase kamiko !"
"sorry !"
she held in a chuckle and smiled apologetically at her friend who is now being bombarded with questions by the other two.
a little while later, the guys decided its time to head home and since they were all meeting again tomorrow, they would eat dinner at home today.
"12."
kenma told her as she left his house.
"mhmm, see you tomorrow !"
she smiled as she chased after the guys and got into kuroos car with akaashi since their houses are the furthest and along the same way, while the others walked towards the train station and left for their dorms.
after watching them all leave, kenmas phone lit up at the sign of a new message and smiled slightly when he read that it came from kamiko.
