It had been three months since he had moved to the countryside and he was starting to enjoy it. He had ventured out as far as the village to buy groceries and have lunch with Jiji. Today was one of those times. He needed to get some stuff at the shop, some personal stuff that he did not want Jiji or any of her staff to get for him.Wondering down the toiletries isle he knelt down to get a closer look at the deodorants. Suddenly he felt a searing pain in his ankle. It knocked him to the ground and on the way down his elbow careered into the bottom shelf.
"Aargh, wow that hurts."
"oh my, I am so sorry, are you okay?"
"Um, yeah I think so. Just a little sore on the back of my ankle. I should be fine." He said wincing. He looked down and saw that there was blood involved and there was a gash from the collision.
There stores manager had arrived at the scene and was armed with some medical supplies. "let me help you with that, sir. Hold still." It was a smallish gash so he was soon patched up and ready to go."Um, I er am really sorry about causing this all. I wasn't paying attention." The voice was different to one's he had been hearing.
"it's not a problem, I am fi..." he was rendered speechless by the surprise which hit him as he discovered who he was talking to.
You are beautiful!
"Where are my manners, I'm Harry." He said.
"I'm Frankie. Are you going to be alright? I am really sorry."
"I am fine. Can I have your phone number? I would love to see you again."
Wow, talk about left field, that came from there but go with it.They exchanged numbers and went their separate ways. Harry was now in a daze and just about flew home because of meeting Frankie. By time he got home, she had already messaged him. He had to tell her numerous times not to apologize anymore that day.
Harry had decided to sign for varsity via correspondence and he had collected all the material from the local courier company that afternoon. He was surprised that they were open on a Sunday because everyone else was closed. He thought Jiji had something to do with it but didn't argue. A lot of the studying was done online with the remainder being from text books. He had already got a laptop to get through the video sessions the varsity had put onto the web portal.
He logged on to the varsity portal and started watching one of the introductory videos, when his leg began to throb. This got worse and worse so he went and grabbed an ice pack, lifted his leg up onto a foot stool and placed the injured part onto the ice.
His desk vibrated and made a noise, it was a donkey noise. He chose it because of how annoying it was, reminding him that he needs to attend to his phone. His phone was not on, a lot of the time. He was not a person who was attached to their phone. He would rather spend hours on his computer.
It was a message from Frankie "Hey stranger. Want to meet up under less painful circumstances?" She clearly had a dry English and sarcastic sense of humour. He loved this humour
