A fluffy paw jabbed at Frost side and he opened his dark blue eyes lazily.

"Come on Frost!" Yipped a young she-wolf. Frost eyes adjusted to the morning light and he looked up at Cloud. Her grey fur was fluffed out and her pink tongue lolled as she jumped around happily. He yawned and stretched his paws and continued to blink. Cloud smacked his face with her paws and he sneezed as the dirt from her fur got caught in his nose. "Get up you lazy piece of fluff!" She growled.

"I'm up, I'm up," Frost yawned again as he stood up. "What do you-"

Cloud tackled him and he yipped as the air was knocked out of him and she held him down triumphantly.

"I win," She barked.

Frost rolled his blue eyes and smiled at her. Both of them were the runts of the litter, he was a month older then her and she was barely his size. His mother, Rose, tried her best to teach him simple moves. He was ten months old and a normal pup would be made Watcher at five months. In his pack there were six ranks. Omega for the worst fighter and hunter, those wolves get pitiful jobs and sleep in the worst den. Then there was Watcher, the first rank that pups start out in or those who mess up get ranked down to. Watcher is for those who watch the borders at night incase of TallKillers, Bonebreakers, or any other wolves came. One Watcher would be sent out to gather the Stalkers, the wolves who hunt, and the Stalkers would investigate and see if they were just passing through or if the Fangs, the fighters, should be alerted incase of a fight.

When you are a Fang you have the opportunity of becoming Beta or Alpha by fighting whoever is already in that position. If a wolf were to win the battle then the Beta or the Alpha would become a Fang again. Omegas would battle a Watcher to rank up, though it is unusual for a Omega to win said battle. Runts will start out as Watchers at a later age, and usually are quickly demoted to the Omega rank since they took much longer to have any actual training practice.

Trying to remember the small amount his mother had taught him, he kicked with his hind paws and Cloud fell off of him and yelped in suprised. He jumped up and pounced on her, the two of them growled happily and tumbled around laughing. As they rolled out of the Dead Oak in which the pups grew, they bumped into something hard and the two of them fell off of each other. Frost looked up and he saw his Alpha looking down at him with gentle eyes. Frost scrambled to his paws and he met his Alphas eyes and he puffed out his chest trying to look strong in front of the leader.

"What are you two doing?" He asked. His voice was firm but soft as he looked at the two runts. Frost licked his muzzle embarrassed. He blinked his blue orbs and looked back up at his Alpha who was looking at them both expectingly.

"Well," Frost said in a whisper. "We uh... We were bored in the Dead Oak and we... Well me um..." Frost trailed off unsure if he wanted to say the last part.

"We want to become Watchers!" Cloud blurted out. Alpha turned his green eyes onto her and she shrunk back but continued. "We are five months older then the average age and we know we are good enough. We have been practicing battle moves."

Alpha flicked his pointed ears and grinned. The two pups cocked there heads confused at Alphas sudden happiness.

"Alright," he barked cheery as he got down to the pups level. "I have a idea. I'll put the both of you in a fight with Bush and Snore. If you can beat them I will make you Watchers. If you loose, then you will have to wait another five months. Deal?"
