After finishing school, I wanted to do something of my life. I wanted to learn how to live by myself, so I asked my parents for help with some cash for 6 months over Europe to find work and to get to actually meet some places.
Obviously they helped me, but they only gave me enough money for 1 month instead of 6, so I could learn how to live all by myself. But, for me, it was perfect to start with.
I chose one of my favorite places in the world; England. My actual favorite place was Italy, but England wasn't bad at all. I left Mexico in October, which was very difficult because that meant I wasn't going to be with my family over Christmas. But, it was worth it. At least I thought it would.
For my clueless mind, England was basically London, until someone let me know London was more expensive than any of the other states over England.
Because of my need of money, I had to go over West Yorkshire. It wasn't bad, I have to say. Bradford, where I was staying for this 6 months, was huge and very diverse. There were places for the very poor people and places for the very rich people, and sadly I entered in the very poor people category.
When I arrived over Bradford's airport, I felt awesome. Nothing could possibly stop me. It was Autumn, so it was windy and cold. Good thing my department was already ready for me with nothing inside of it. And when I say nothing, it really was nothing inside of it apart from my next bed, a sleeping bag.
I had to find a job so I could get money for rent and some furniture. Oh, and food!
After unpacking, I went over the neighborhood of my department. I met people with nothing on their hands and others with some money. I was like them right now, so it didn't feel different.
When I got to the corner of the street, I fell in love completely with the antiques shop. I HAD to get in over there. I got a little closer, and the first thing I saw over the windows was some ugly, very ugly signs that said: "We are hiring!"
I knew that was the place where I was going to work.
