Chapter 1: My Past

Back when I was very young, I met a boy in my kindergarten. His name was Shoto Todoroki. We became best friends and spent most of the time together. We always went to the park together supervised by my mother but then one day my parents said this was the last day of kindy. "But I don't want to go," I said. "It's okay darling, I'm sure you'll make new friends in our new neighbourhood" my mother told me. Unsure how I should feel, I told Todoroki and he seemed sad. "Why do you have to leave?" he asked. "I'm sorry Todoroki but it wasn't my choice," I said. "We could meet at the park for the very last time tonight?" I suggested. "What a great idea!" he said. "I'll bring the snacks," I said with excitement. "I really am going to miss you Sagara.." he said. "It's okay. Maybe we will see each other in the future" I wondered.

A few moments later kindergarten had finished and I was picked up. "Hey mummy?" I said. "Yes?" she answered with the phone in her hand. "Me and Todoroki are going to go to the park together after and we want snacks!" I smiled. She smiled back "what a lovely way to say goodbye," she said. I had mixed feelings about this. Both happy and excited and nervous and sad to leave. We went to the market and got some snacks. "I want those ones!" I was in joy. "Animal crackers? Are you sure Sagara?" I nodded. "Yes yes yes please mummy" I begged. "Okay, then anything else?" "maybe a drink but not really," I answered. "Okay lovely" she replied. Mum paid for the snacks and you took the bag. "I'm so excited to see him and eat! Yum yum!" I said.

"In the car now.. We still need to get you to the park" she chuckled. I waddled my way over to the car. I had the snacks on my lap and a smile on my face. She dropped me off and said she will stay in the car close to the park. "Okay mummy!" I said. I jumped out of the car and walked to the park. In the distance, I saw someone on the swing. "Hello? Todo..?" I was a bit scared but had the curiosity to keep going. I saw the person and sat on the other swing. "So it is you.." I said. I could see that he was crying and that he had a red patch on his face. "Todo what's wrong? I brought the snacks.." I said trying to cheer him up. He showed me his face. I couldn't believe it. I jumped off the swing and dropped the snacks. I went over to him "what happened?" I started to feel tears falling from my face. "My.. mum.." he couldn't finish. "Don't worry about that!" I tried to change the subject as I wiped my tears. "I've got animal crackers!" I smiled and passed him some. Slowly he started eating them but he continued crying. "How could I cheer him up?"

"Umm.. Todo? How about we make a promise to each other?" he was listening. "When we see each other we should be friends forever!" I said with excitement. He smiled. "Do you promise you will come back?" he asked. I searched the ground and found a stone that had been broken in half. I picked it up and gave half to Todoroki. "I pinky promise! To make sure we keep the promise we must have these stones in our pockets all the time!" I said more forcefully than I would like. "Now, let's eat the crackers!" I got more out and saw he was in a better mood. For a while, we continued to play but then my mum came up. She took a photo of us and was gonna take me home. "Sorry Todo.. But I've got to go.." I said. I gave him one last hug before walking away with my mum.
