PROLOG: Way Back When

(The first time they meet)

Arin opened the heavy door to the hall. He looked down at his clipboard, then at the interviewees.

"Leigh Avadan" Arin read aloud.

A tall man stood up from where he was seated, a mass of curls sprung to life as he bounded towards the open door.

"Call me Dan."
He spoke in a kind tone, Arin took mental note of this.

Come in, Arin spoke as he followed Dan into the dimly lit room. Dan looked around, seating himself on a plush looking couch. "So…" Arin smiled eager to get started, "what game do you wanna play?"

Dan stood up, looking through the many shelves of games, fingering the spines of each game gingerly. He read the names in his mind, picking up a copy of Kirby's Dream world.

"How about this one?"

Dan watched in amusement as Arin put in the game, setting everything up for them. They were almost through with the first round, Dan had twelve stars, while Arin had only obtained seven.

"shit, this guy's good"
Arin thought to himself, creating what he thought was a foolproof strategy.

Arin kept missing shots, finally throwing his controller across the room in a fit of rage, angrily grumbling about how the stars moved when he wasn't looking.

Dan giggled, causing Arin to turn to him. All of his anger melted away, and he began to laugh.

Arin had never felt that way before. Dan had helped him to let go of the little things, and turn his focus back to what really mattered.

Arin knew that Dan was the only one who could fill the position of the two man tag team, 'Game grumps.'

But still, even though they worked so well together, there was a little feeling nagging in the back of his mind. Arin just didn't know what it was yet…
