“BYE GIRLS” Mabel said as she waved her friends goodbye. She hadn’t gone home yet. Usually, Greg comes to her class and then they both walk home. Their house was quite far from the school, so taking the bus home was the logical thing to do. But now, she’d been waiting for her brother for at least an hour and thirty minutes now but he still hadn’t shown up. She was torn between just going home without him and keeping her patience. If she went home and he wasn’t around she’d be stranded outside because she didn’t have the house key, but if she waited here for him and he’d gone home it would be quite unfortunate for her. Of course she could just walk to his class and find out if he was still around, but going into the senior’s class area, was like using a crowbar to yank open the gates of hell itself. There were specific rules about junior students going into senior’s classes, Unofficial rules of course. She wasn’t ready to risk her neck, just to find out if her brother, who’d probably gone home was still around. Her friends who’d just left tried to stay around with her, but eventually they had to go home. She stood up and arranged her books in her bag. She decided to just go home. He most likely is already at home chilling.
X. X. X. X. X. X
WHAT IS that annoying sound, he thought. It was like someone was screaming at the top of their voice into his ears. His first impulse was to use both his hands to cover his ears, but for some reason he couldn’t. The sound started getting feinter. He still wanted to cover his ears, but he couldn’t. His eyes slowly opened. He was in his mother’s room. Why? He turned to the right and saw his mother’s wardrobe. It was open and clothes were scattered everywhere on the floor. It was very unusual for his mother’s wardrobe to look this untidy. He turned to his left. His heart skipped a beat.
“Mom!” He screamed.
She was tied on a chair beside him and her mouth was blocked with a piece of cloth. That’s when he realised he was tied too. But he wasn’t gagged. She looked at him with soft eyes. Apologetic eyes.
“Mom, what happened? Why are we tied up?”
His mind now finally cleared. He’d seen his mother tied up in her bathroom and soon after, he was hit at the back of his head. He was most likely tied up while he was passed out. Then now he asked a better question.
“Who tied us up?”
She shook her head. He couldn’t tell what she was trying to say.
“Is someone here?” He asked.
“Of course someone’s here.” His question was answered by someone other than his mother. His heart pounded hard. A strange man in a black suit walked into the room. He had a gun in one hand and a phone on the other.
“Finally awake huh?” He said and walked toward him. “You’ve been out so long, I thought I killed you.” He stopped in front of him and bent so his hands were on his knees.
“Now that would’ve ruined all the fun, wouldn’t it?” He said and smiled. Greg gulped heavily.Who is this man?
His mother was trying to say something, in quite a loud tone, but her voice was muffled by the gag on her mouth. Judging from her body language, it wasn’t something nice. The man looked at her and smiled.
“Don’t worry Mrs. Morgan, it’ll all be fun.”
The man stood erect and walked to her makeup table. There was picture there of the family together. Him and mabel being bulldozed with hugs from their father and mother. The man picked up the picture and stared at it for a good 20 seconds.
“What about her?” He said and pointed his index finger at Mabel in the picture. “She’ll be home soon won’t she?”
At this point his mother was going crazy. She was shaking violently on the chair trying to break free while screaming from the gag on her mouth. The man giggled softly.
“Wanna say something, Mrs. Morgan?” He said. He walked to her and removed the cloth from her mouth. Immediately, in a voice broken with tears, she began to yell,
“I swear if anything happens to my children I’ll kill you, I’ll fu…” He put the cloth back on her mouth before she could complete her statement.
“Well aren’t you a fiesty one. It’s no wonder he married you. You two have a lot in common” He said.
Does this man know who my father is?
He’d been talking to his mother as if this wasn’t random. As if they knew each other in fact. And now he mentioned his father. There had to be some connection between this man and his father’s death.
“You know my father?” He’d been shaking ever since he saw the man, but now he finally spoke and he wasn’t sure where the courage came from. He began to pray silently that he doesn’t regret asking that question.
“Of course I know your father. In fact, I know a lot more than just your father, I also kn…”
His mother let out a muffled scream and interrupted him. The man looked at her and smirked.
“You haven’t told them I see.” He said.
A knock sounded on the door.
His heart pounded rapidly. It was surely Mabel. She couldn’t get into this mess. There was no telling what this man was capable of. The man carefully kept the picture on a table and went out of the room to get the door. He wasn’t the religious type but he prayed harder than a Pope. He prayed that…BANG!
A violent sound resonated from the living room. It was a gunshot. His heart pummeled
