Jolie though they would all be fun for a while. New people, new things, right?

Well, turned out 'new' meant hearing Jordan spout prose after prose of dwarvish poetry. Still, Jolie clapped, hoping it would all be over soon.

Once there was a break between pieces, Soran kept to his feet, expression showing he'd heard enough as well. "How about we all play a game of base quest?"

Jolie glanced to her sister who was sitting next to Madeline a few seats away, and saw the familiar glimmer of excitement in her eyes.

She sighed, and nodded in agreement with the rest of them. They walked out of the room, following a few paths out to a door leading into the forested area of Everglen.

Soran stopped at a tall oak to look at the others. "So, who wants to be teamed with who?" After a while of debating, they agreed that one one team, they should have Madeline, Jordan, and Amber on one team, and Soran, Landon, Emma, and Jolie on the other.

Once they had chosen the base, Jolie took a moment to recall the rules of the game, since she'd heard meant whispered rants from her fad about how cool Base Quest and Tackle Bramble were.

Emma started walking towards her, a worried look at her Face. She never got the chance to hear what she had to say.

Soran waved Jolie over to the tree they had picked, and she obliged, glancing back at her sister.

"Okay, you're going to guard the base while the rest of us look for the other team." She nodded, and Soran left to join the others.

Jolie tried to wave and get her sister's attention, but she didn't even notice her.

Emma wished she'd had time to tell Jolie about Amber, but every time she went to tell her, someone else distracted her. Darn her short attention span.

Following Soren and Landon through the trees,  they agreed to spit up. It occurred to her for the first time that she didn't know if any of the others had abilities, so this could be a very unfair game.

A twig snapped to her left, and Emma whipped around. A blur of movement shot past her, and Emma sprinted after the enemy.

She realized she was losing them, and remembered the way skills worked. Focusing all her energy into her legs, Emma slowly begs to get closer and closer to the intruder.

Then something strange happened. She felt as though she were being stretched thin. Had she used the skill wrong?! Was she going to blow up like in one of Jolie's horror movies?

She closed her eyes, waiting for the end, until she opened her eyes again, and found herself falling from the air.

Emma screamed as she fell towards the ground. Almost unnaturally, the breeze seemed to lift her up again, and she fell to the soft grass below her.

Emma blinked a few times, trying to get a hold on what had just happened.

The others crowded into the clearing she'd landed in, Jolie rushing over to her side.

"Emma, are you okay?!" She exclaimed.

"I-I think so." She looked at the others, and realized how pale Madeline looked.

Madeline must have guessed what she was thinking, because she tried to smile. "Try not to fall like that again. I only manifested as a Guster a week ago."

That explained part of it. But what just happened with the running, and then.. suddenly falling from the sky.

Suddenly, Soren gasped. "I can't believe it!"

Emma frowned. "What?"

His face seemed to light up. "Emma, you're a teleporter!"

Jolie knew all the excitement about Emma being a teleporter should have made her excited too, but she couldn't help but remember the feeling, of sending her sister's fear as she fell from the sky. And hearing her panicked thoughts.

She knew what she was, but if she told them that, she might make Emma feel forgotten. Something she knew from experience was not fun.

After all, Emma was the attention grabber. The one everyone always called amazing. Not Jolie. Never Jolie: It was always Emma.

What place was there for the forgotten twin, to come out and proclaim that she was not only an Empath, but a Telepath too.
