Annie's POV
I woke up on the same cot and notice the sun is only just starting to raise. I decide to explore the room. I soon spot a window and look out of it, to see I'm in a tower in a castle. I wonder how I can get to the grounds and where the kitchen is? I'm hungry and also need the loo. I head for the door "where are you going young one?" someone asks. I look around confused, I'm the only one in the room. "Up here young one" the voice says and I look up to see a portrait of the elderly man looking down at me.
"Did you speak?" I ask confused.
"Yes, I am Professor Dippet. I was headmaster before Dumbledore" he states and I jump back shocked. "Do not fear me young one, I mean you no harm" he tells me in a gentle tone. "Where were you going?" he asks me curious.
"The loo and to find the kitchen" I mumble.
"You can't wonder the corridors alone dear, you'll get lost" a woman in her sixties in another portrait.
"But I really need to go" I whine.
"What's going on?" a tired Professor Dumbledore asks as we he comes down stairs.
"Miss Annie needs the loo and is hungry" Dippet states.
"Ah, Miss Oakley. I have asked for Penelope Clearwater to show you around this morning. She is a Ravenclaw Prefect and has the morning off" Dumbledore tells me. Just then someone knocks on the door. "Come in" he says and a teenage girl enters the room.
"You wanted to see me headmaster" she says.
"Yes, this is Annie and she will be staying with us for awhile. I want you to show her around this morning until your lessons begin. When they do, drop her back off here" Dumbledore tells her.
"Of course headmaster" she says and turns to me with a smile. "Hello, my name is Penelope Clearwater. But please call me Penny" she tells me.
"Annie" I say shaking her hand. "Can we go to the loo, then get some food?" I ask her hopeful.
"Of course" she says with a smile. "See you later Headmaster" she adds and we leave the office as I waved goodbye to Dumbledore. "So how old are you?" she asks me curious as we descend the stairs.
"Nine" I state. She nods her head and asks no more questions. She leads me to the loo and waits for me outside as I did my business. Once I had washed my hands I exit the bathroom. She leads me to the huge basement. "Where are we going?" I ask her.
"The kitchens" she states and stops at a portrait of a bowl of fruit. "Why don't you tickle the pear" she tells me. I look at her confused and do so. The pear would giggle and turned into a large green door handle. I grab Penny's hand surprised and she chuckles opening the door to reveal the kitchens. "Pitts, may I have some toast and a glass of water for Annie?" she asks one of the strange creatures working in the kitchen.
"Of course, what toppings does Miss Annie want?" he asks.
"Plum jam and butter would be fine" I tell him. He nods his head and soon another creature comes forward with them on a tray. "Thank you" I say and start to ate.
I had just finished when a silvery bird that looks like Fawkes flew into the room. "Please bring Annie back to my office" Dumbledore's voice states and the bird disappears.
"What was that?" I ask shocked.
"A patronus, you'll learn it when you're older" Penny tells me. She leads me out of the kitchens back to Dumbledore's office. She leaves me and I enter to see him talking to the woman from the station.
"Why am I here Dumbledore? You said it was urgent" she states.
"It is, it regards your brother Gideon" he states.
"You know I don't like to talk about them" she says sounding sad.
"I know Molly, but there's been a development" he tells her. "Ah Annie, glad you are here. Can you please show Molly here your necklace?" he asks me. I frown in confusion as both adults look at me. I slowly take it off and hold it out to her. She sees the crest and gasps beginning to fall. Suddenly a chair appears and she lands in it.
"Are you ok?" I ask her concerned as I put my necklace back on.
"She has suffered a shock, give her a moment" Dumbledore tells me. I nod my head and go over to the window. "Now you see why I sent for you" he tells the woman.
"Does she know?" Molly asks him quietly.
"No, she didn't even know magic existed until yesterday" he states.
"Where has she been? Why wasn't I notified of her earlier? Who has raised her?" Molly demands getting riled up.
"She was in a muggle group home. From what I have gathered. She was dropped off at an orphanage by her mother Oakley when she was born. With a letter saying her name is Annie Oakley. That her parents are going through a rough patch. That they'd be back for her" Dumbledore explains.
"They never did, they didn't love me. No one does" I say as my eyes sting with tears. Suddenly I'm pulled into a tight motherly hug by Molly.
"Don't you ever say that, your parents loved you dearly and only wanted you safe" she states.
"You knew them? Do you know where they are?" I ask her hopeful.
"Your father was my brother, I am so sorry dear. But they died nearly ten years ago" she tells me solemnly.
"No, you're lying! They're not dead!" I scream pushing her away. "They promised to come back, they aren't dead" I state.
"They are Annie" Dumbledore tells me in a calm tone.
"Then why did she never come for me?" I demand pointing at Molly. "The note said my mother or aunt would come for me. My mother is dead, what's her excuse?" I demand. As I feel power fill me up.
"I thought you were dead" Molly says sadly and I look at her shocked. "There was a war going on, the night your parents died. We had agreed to me, they had something important to tell me. But they never made it and I thought you had died with your mother. As last I heard she had not given birth yet" she explains.
"She has leaved in a group home and ran away from it yesterday. I have already sent Madame Pomfrey to collect her things and inform her carer that her legal guardian is adopting her. We erased all knowledge of Annie from the muggle records and minds. So she is free" Dumbledore explains.
"You mean, I'm not going back to that hell hole?" I ask shocked.
"Language" Molly tells me firmly.
"Yes, Annie" Dumbledore says answering my question.
"But where will I go? I'm an orphan" I state.
"With me of course, I was to be your god mother and as your only living relative aside from my children. My husband and I shall raise you" Molly states. "Though you'll have to room with Ginny, she is not much younger then you. She will also be starting at Hogwarts next year" she tells me.
"Where do you live?" I ask her curious.
"In the country, you'll love it dear" she tells me with a smile. "Thank you Dumbledore, I can never thank you enough for bringing Annie into my life" she states.
"Think nothing of it Molly, you may use my Floo powder to return to the Burrow. I look forward to seeing you next year Miss Prewett" Dumbledore tells us.
"My last name is Oakley" I tell him pouting and they chuckle.
"No dear, your middle name is Oakley. Your full name is Annie Oakley Prewett" Molly tells me. I nod my head. "Now as you were raised in the muggle world. You have never traveled by floo powder before. What you do is grab a handful of the green powder and toss it into the fire. Saying 'The Burrow' very clearly" she explains.
I nod my head and go over to the fire place and stand inside it. I take a handful of the green powder. "The Burrow" I say clearing dropping the powder and I'm engulfed in green flames.
