I heaved myself out of bed, checking carefully under it before putting my feet down, wanting to avoid any unwanted accidents. I quickly slipped into a dress that I had laid out the day before, no need to go into the dark closet if I could help it, and trudged downstairs, turning on all the lights as I went.
I ate breakfast alone, but that wasn't unusual, my parents left for work before dawn and my older brother refused to even consider leaving his bed until 11 am, at least, unless his girlfriend called. I glanced down at the book that I was attempting to read but was actually just laying, forgotten, on the kitchen table. I sighed and flicked it open, but my mind was too preoccupied to focus on it.
Suddenly, Ethan came thundering down the stairs, sounding like a herd of elephants having a rave. The abrupt noise startled me and I spilled my cereal all over the table, "Oops, sorry L..." He said, grinning sheepishly as he helped me mop it up with an army of paper towels. I shot him a look, he wasn't usually up this early, hell, he wasn't usually this nice to me! Something was going on.
He catches my glance and catches on, "Oh, uh, I wanted to get up early for school today!" I glare at him, not believing him for a second, his Uni classes don't start 'till noon.
Finally, he sighed, "Fine, I'm taking Pat out." I grinned, now that was more believable. "Okay okay, where're you going?" I asked as I dumped the soggy paper towels in the bin. Ethan rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Malas Noticias?" He mumbled quietly. I stared at him, mouth agape, "What?!"
