The two kingdoms had been fighting for years.
Centuries in fact, the kingdoms refused to celebrate their arguments. The kingdom of the east, the Xivalon Empire and the kingdom of the south, the Tronate Kingdom. Both beautiful places were run by a loving king and queen and their kingdoms each adored they're rulers.
One day the Xivalon Empire's rulers gave birth to a healthy baby boy of the name of Damien. The kingdoms celebrated but the Tronate kingdom was less than pleased. They decided that it was just another person to hate, another royal to add to the endless hatred between both kingdoms.
Two years later however the Tronate kingdom also gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Henry. The royals were very happy and coincidentally so were the rulers of the Xivalon Empire which seemed strange to everyone.
One fine day the Xivalon rulers paid a small visit to the king and queen of Tronate. They had tea in the tea room and discussed the "ergent" business the king and queen of Xivalon felt the need to talk about in private with them.
The Xivalon rulers came to the conclusion that they should stop the horrible and very devastating war between the two. The rulers of Tronate were quite surprised and yet curious at the same time. They asked the rulers of course why they should trust them and what would create the truce.
Because there of course needed to be terms of surrender because they couldn't just let this all go without discussion. So, the king and queen of Xivalon pointed out something. They explained that once Damien was 20 and Henry was 18 they would both be of age and they could marry to celebrate the ending of their life long rivalry.
The Tronate rulers were of course shocked by the suggestion but not technically against it. It would be quite an easy solution to their problems and that way they could join their kingdoms and rule more land. So on paper everything seemed like a great plan.
The rulers of each kingdom agreed to each other's terms and so it was decided. Once the young princes we're the age of 20 and 18 they would be married. And until then both places may continue as they were and no one was to know about the agreement until the boys were of age.
Unfortunately even the princes didn't know about each other and their betrothal so they both grew up hating each other.
So when the news was finally announced stuff may not go as planned.
