Chapter 1

TAEHYUNG POV

Today is Monday and I am nervous to find out about the result of my exam. Did I do great or it's gonna be a flop? Both of these questions keep bothering my mind for 2 days after taking the exam last Friday. Now, I am in class and we're waiting for our adviser to enter and announce our scores.

Suddenly, my rival in class which is Kim Namjoon stopped walking beside me and said; "Good Luck" with an obvious fake smile on his face.

Kim Namjoon is actually my cousin but we both hate each other. My parents often compare me to him. I admit that he's smarter than me but I'm not going to let myself lose again this time. I worked hard and I hope the result will be good.

After a minute of thinking, our adviser arrived and is about to announce our scores.

I am waiting for my name to be mentioned. Suddenly, I feel dizzy and I don't know why not until I heard my name.

"Kim Taehyung, you got 89 out of 100."My eyes wide open, I rose in disbelief. Our adviser looked at me with disappointment written on her face.

"What happened Taehyung? You always get 93 above whenever we have an exam, is there something wrong or you're seeing someone nowadays??? My stupid classmate said who is sitting beside me, I look straight into his eyes with annoyance. I see, he got scared.

That is so disappointing actually, considering that I will be nagged again by my father who expects me to be the top student in the class. Seriously, my parents expect too much because their pride is me and I have to make them proud no matter what. However, this happened. I can't believe myself.

"Kim Namjoon, you got 95 out of 100. Congratulations, you have the highest score this semester. Keep up the good work"

And then, everyone clapped and smiled at him.

I'm done...I lost again, what am I gonna do...Overall, what makes me more disappointed is I ranked 4th this time when back then, I always take the 2nd spot. My father will be really angry at me when I go home so I have to be ready.

After a couple of hours of discussion with our teachers, the class is finally over. I couldn't focus in class this time because of what I just found out.

I see, Kim Namjoon is looking at me again to tease me because I lost again. He walks near me while laughing...

"Hey, Taehyung!Guess what? You lost again, you will never beat me..."He said right in front of my face.

"Back off, you're breath smell so bad. Move!"I grabbed my bag and walked out.

He got annoyed and shouted at me but I ignored him, I have to stay cool no matter what.

To be honest, I don't want to compete with him just because of this kind of school crap where you have to do your best. Even though he treats me like that, I still love and respect him because he is my cousin.

I'm now at the hallway and I heard someone calling me, it's Jeon Jungkook and Park Jimin. They are my best friends, I'm thankful that I have them. If they don't exist in my life, I would've not experience smiling and laughing anytime. The three of us actually took different classes for us to be ready for college. Sadly, the ones who choose our path is our parents, not us which is pretty sad actually. Jungkook is preparing to be a Lawyer when he wants to be an artist, Jungkook and I want the same. While Jimin is preparing to be a businessman because his family runs a business and Jimin is the heir, however, he wants to be a dance teacher. Apparently, my parents want me to be a doctor. I just wish that I'm not born in a rich family, I would've enjoyed my life if there was no pressure.

"How did your exam go?"Said by Jungkook

"Hmmm, not bad. I actually did great..."

"Wahhh, as expected! You always slayyy my friend, you're nice. Keep going!"Said by Jimin with a cheerful energy.
