Before Sunset

I stumbled to my bed and went to sleep contentedly. That day was just the best. I couldn't think of a better one!

*in the  morning*

Fist day, only 20 more to go through, YAY! I went to the kitchen to prepare my traditional Sunday-quick-breakfast but today I made two servings because I wanted to spend the day training and fitness. So I threw myself into some workout clothes and grabbed my stuff. I take the elevator to the 20th floor and head to the training room. When I arrived in the room I keep an eye out for people. No one here.
"Fantastic!"
I start working out immediately. Every 15 min I change devices. I do some squats and pull-ups, when I finally decide to try boxing.
There has always been a boxing ring in the room and I had always wanted to box too someday but I have always consider this wish to be silly.
BUT: Never say never...
I saw a container full of boxing gloves and choose the newest ones. Then headed to one of the punching bags and started punching.

"Left, left, right, left, dodge

"Left, left, right, left, dodge... right, right, left, right, dodge..." I keep repeating this the whole time.
"You are really good at this." I freeze for a second but then keep on punching this time harder than usually.
"I just don't understand how some women are so talented when it comes to boxing..."
I still don't say a word but I increase my speed and punch even harder.
"Why are you ignorin-" he can't finish speaking because I interrupted him.
"I am not ignoring you, Steve!"
"Why are you yelling?"
"I am not... it's just complicated." I say in a calmer voice this time.
"What is complicated?" He asks.
"Nothing...just nothing." I reply exhausted. We look at each other for a moment. "Would you like to come with me on a walk?" He asks. "I don't thi-" I get interrupted... "It wasn't actually a question." He says grinning brightly. "Ok if that is the case, ice-pop.."
I tease him a little.
"I hate to be called that way." he replies seriously.
"Well, I don't like the barbarian tone you have either. So I guess we are okay now?" We both laugh briefly.
"Where are we going?" I ask wondering.
"We don't have many options.. it's getting late." I look through the windows and stare in disbelief. "How could I not see that's already so late?" I ask more myself than Steve.
"Well...you were very concentrated. By the way I like that." He responds to my question. I take a look at the clock, 5pm. Really? I didn't even had lunch and I kind of feel my stomach begging for some food.
"Can we stop by at Frankie's and get some food? I'm starving."
"Of course. I'm starving too...watching you work out so hard made me longing for food and water!" We both laugh out in agreement.

At Frankie's I get myself a big burger with fries and soda, Steve takes the same. We are sitting outside and watching the sunset. I have to say it is the most beautiful one I've ever seen but the fresh breeze is too cold for a March afternoon/evening.

"So you didn't explain why you are avoiding me?" He asks. "I'm not gonna lie...Yes I do avoid you... but I don't know why exactly." I reply with a nervous and sad voice. "It's okay...I just wondered if I did something to offend you that night."
"No you were perfect... it's me...my whole head is full of not needed information, so it was too much for me to handle." I say.
"I'm sorry... but may I ask what did you hear that offended you so much that you couldn't stay?" He asks prudently. "I'm not feeling comfortable to speak about this." I respond.
"Yeah I'm sorry... can you forgive me?"
"Already forgiven."
We eat our meal. When we are both done Steve is the first breaking the silence.
"Let's play a game. Tell me something I don't know about you. When you did so it's my turn to tell you something you don't know about me. So we can get to know each other." He suggests and I accept.

"I'm a gymnast and got a scholarship for that."
"Wow...amazing! I somehow knew you are really good at sports." He says.
"Okay my turn...When I first met Bucky I hated him because he was more good looking than me."
"I totally don't doubt that." I say and smirk.
"And I hate myself for that cause we were so young we had such a great friendship but I was the one to hesitate on some stupid shit." He adds and I feel guilty for not noticing that he was serious about it.
"It was some stupid shit. You two were kids. It's all past now you don't have to worry... everybody had moments like these." I try to comfort him.
"Yeah it's okay... your turn." He points at me and sips his soda.
"I am jealous at a woman that has a boyfriend. And I don't like her just because she has him. Actually I can't look her in the eyes because I know what a terrible person I am to think so." I say starring at my shoes.
"I have a girlfriend I actually don't have feelings for."He announces briefly and exhales exhausted.
"Wow.. that's a change of tone." I say.
"I just needed to say that. I drag it around with me the whole time not knowing if that is right but now I'm so happy to have said it out loud." He smiles at me.
I don't know if that was the thing I wanted to hear him say but I'm glad that he is not happy with this Sharon. Omg I'm a horrible person to think that. This man has gone through a lot and I'm swarming like a little girl. Such a selfish idiot.
My thoughts are getting interrupted by a message coming from my phone.

Lincoln:
Hey Lesley, I would be really thankful if you could appear at the bar, tonight. We have to plan what's going to happen on Tuesday so... please come by so we can talk about things regarding the work!!
Best wishes Boss

"Oh shit!" I shout. "What's wrong?" Steve asks. "Nothing just... I forgot that I should meet my friend at 7pm for dinner." I lie and stand up to give him a brief hug.
"We will see us tomorrow." I say while leaving for the bar. "Yes...sure." I can hear Steve's disappointment and I feel very bad.

At the bar I meet Aiden while he is cleaning some tables. "Hey Aiden. How are you?" I ask and continue walking through the hall. "Hey Lesley. I'm good. I hope you have patience tonight..."
"Patience is quite inevitable in my everyday life so what's wrong?" Now I help him with cleaning.
"Yeah, just we have some news...The bar is as you saw and will continue to see empty. We have only some regular customers. They are loyal one's but they are not enough to keep this place running. You understand?" He is very sad and worried.
"I totally understand that. But now you have me guys!" I say by looking him straight in the eyes.

"And we are really happy about it but I can't keep this place on running. It's not popular no one is interested in our shitty music. And if I hire you I won't be able to pay you-" Says Lincoln who just entered the hall but I interrupt him instantly.

"Look, I never wanted to be payed. It's not the money I want... it's the singing in front of people what makes me happy... seeing other people who are capable of feeling the music and enjoying it." I tell him while holding his hand.
"I want to help you guys and myself at the same time. But we need to make some changes. I'll be here tomorrow after lunch. I promise you we are going to be the most visited club in whole Manhattan!"

I return home. It's 10 pm and I'm exhausted so I go straight to bed. Minutes later I hear Jarvis voice.
"You have returned, Lu. Do you wish to accept the Captain's request. He wanted to talk to you as soon as you are home." "No. Thanks Jarvis, tell him I'm tired now." I reply.
Just seconds later my door opens with a smash.
"Lu? Are you okay?" He seems concerned...
"Yeah! Totally fine. Was it really necessary to make such a scene?" I ask while waiting for an explanation.
"Thank god. There was a bomb attack downtown... I needed to be sure you are okay." He says now a little more less concerned.
"Oh... I didn't know a thing." I wonder. "What matters now is that you are fine." He responds briefly.
"You were worried about me, weren't you?" I take my chances to ask.
"Good Night, Lu."
He just wants to leave when I say:
"Yeah... sure I forgot. Men and their pride. They would rather go blind than admitting anything like that, it would only damage their reputation and make them look weak...Tell me if I'm wrong! "
He leaves when I finished speaking...
Leaving me alone...
