03. not my boyfriend

THREE.

kagura sat in her "adoptive parent's" kitchen, poring some tea into her cup. they hadn't actually adopted her, but they treated her like she was their child. erza and jellal fernandez, to  be exact were the ones who took her in about 4 years ago when she was 20. they have a 2 year old daughter, rosemary, who kagura adores.

kagura doesn't like to remember the day the took her in, not in the slightest, but she's grateful that they actually have taken care of her after all this time. back to the present, she sat next to erza at the table while jellal had taken rosemary to the park a few blocks away.

"you are going to a concert? that sounds like fun," erza remarked with a satisfied look on her face as she picked up her cup. the red head knew that kagura didn't like social interactions and definitely didn't like to met new people unless she absolutely had to. hearing that the girl was going to a concert made her heart swell, even if was just a simple thing.

"the lead singer invited me. i was afraid he wouldn't let me see frosh if i said no," kagura lied. she knew that rouge wouldn't act out like that, but for some reason that's what her mind said instead of her heart. she traced the rim of her teacup with her index finger with her chin in her right hand, thinking about how it was already to late to back out of this ordeal.

"well i think it will be nice for you to get out for once. reading per say isn't awful, but when you do it all night every night.." erza went on, not having to finish knowing kagura got the message. the black haired woman sighed out in defeat. to go or not to go.. an inner battle within her was happening. the thing keeping her from not going was wanting to hear what rouge sounded like on stage. she wanted to know if he had a velvety voice, or maybe a rough voice.

"so back to this thing with frosh, you are co-parenting a cat with a man you met at the cafe? is he your boyfriend at this point hm?" erza asked with curiosity laced in her voice. kagura had realized when she first started living with the red head that she was a curious one. kagura didn't open up to the woman ever, so erza would always try to pry answers out of her.

"he is not my boyfriend. i met him exactly 4 days ago. secondly, you know i don't want to be romantically involved with anyone. i just want to keep seeing frosh. that cat means the world to me and i'd do anything to see her."

kagura felt her hands started to shake thinking about losing frosh, but erza placed her hands on top of the youngers. "i understand kagura. maybe you should try to become friends with this man though. he is kind enough to let you come to his home to see frosh whenever you please." erza smiled at kagura with the warmest smile, making the younger feel much safer about the whole situation.

jellal suddenly walked in the door with rosemary in his arms fast asleep, drooling on his shoulder. kagura smiled at the younger girl while her father waved softly at her. she also waved back before jellal took the girl to her bedroom. "she's such a daddy's girl," erza mumbled before drinking her tea.

jellal quietly walked back into the kitchen to take a seat next to his wife, sighing out in relief. he adored his daughter, but she could be quite the handful sometimes.

"kagura is going to a concert this saturday," erza said to her husband with a cheery tone in her voice, making jellal look at kagura with a bright smile on his face. "that's great kagura."
the black haired woman looked down playing with a strand of her hair.

"you know.. i think simon would have wanted you to live your life freely," jellal said softly to her, with the most sincere smile she's ever seen. kagura knew he was right, but she just didn't want to think about that now.

or even ever again at that.
