you know what's good about birthdays? no, it's not the food nor the guest. jaemin couldn't careless about that. also, he's old enough not do that cliche partys anymore.

money. yeah, that's what good on birthdays according to jaemin. instead of going out for tonight to eat or to ask for some material gift, jaemin asked his parents for money on his nineteenth birthday. nineteen years old like him definitely needs some of those though, no lie.

“ and what are you planning to spend on twenty thousand, na jaemin? ” his mother sharply asked. feeling doubtful about his son asking for this huge amount of money.

“ nothing... ”

“ if nothing, then why are you still asking and the worst is, twenty thousand? really? why do you need that much? ”

“ maybe jaemin has a debt to pay ” his dad jokingly muttered while still not separating its gazes on his newspaper.

“ no! ”

“ are you planning to gamble? ”

“ no way! ”

“ or you're going to buy drugs, aren't you? ”

“ what!? absolutely no! ”

“ then why? ” mrs. na insisted to know the reason why. she'll no way give twenty thousand to jaemin without even hearing his reason.

“ maybe he has a date tonight ” his dad winked at him.

jaemin sighed. there's no way out with them. “ i'm going to buy something ”

“ what is it? ” they both asked in unison.

“ well, you know that vintage shop? just there, not so far ”

“ yes, and? ”

“ they're going to move next day. today is their last day here. so, i'm planning to buy that vintage coffee machine they're selling ” jaemin shyly confessed. he's been eyeing that old but magnificent coffee machine since last month. he really wanted to buy it yet of course, he didn't have enough money. so, what better opportunity to get some cash than now?

“ of course, coffee ” his mom laughed a little. it's been two years now since jaemin found quite a liking to coffee, everything about it. he even tried to research the history and how to do it. in this point, it's safe to say that he's already addicted to it.

“ so now, are you going to give me some money? ” jaemin stretched his right hand to his mom. waiting for that long awaited cash to land on his palm.

“ that's not ‘some’ na jaemin. that's twenty thousand! ” mrs. na, matter-of-factly, said while grabbing a thick twenty thousand from her wallet.

“ thank you! ”

jaemin gave them a beaming smile before dashing out of the door.
