This is not a fanfiction. It is made purely from original characters. A few are inspired by popular duos. Not all characters are finished.
This one has 2 chapters, about 1k words each (first chapter is longer), the second chapter was not finished in my opinion, but is able to be ended around there.

Details:

Scenario: A post-apocalyptic America. It started when the oceans started rapidly climbing up America's edges, flooding the continent, leaving many states drowned and in ruin, people fled, people died, families and friends torn apart. The numbers were down, America was weak, and then they struck, the mysterious enemy that had been slowly trying to weaken America without being noticed saw this opportunity, and they took it. They attacked viciously, nobody knew why this enemy hated them so much, nobody knew who it was, but the enemy was smart, they knew America was a sleeping giant, they knew they had to attack when America was weak or they'd fall. Most of America was destroyed, homes crumbled, land fell away, waters became polluted, animals died, forests shriveled. America quickly went from being a powerful nation, to a dying nation. The radiation from the bombs changed people, mentally and physically. The radiation along with the trauma of it all pushed people to insanity, people killed, people stole, it was kill or be killed, you had to be strong to survive, you had to look out for yourself, and nobody else. People raided houses and buildings, looting whatever they could, taking refuge in any building that still had at least 2 walls and a roof. There was no order or law, the government had fallen and nobody was strong enough to rebuild it. But in a place that used to be Florida, a group of people rose, they were powerful, feared even. They had control, order, power, and safety. They took in children left without families, and a few people that hadn't been affected by the radiation yet that knew how to fight. They trained these people, taught them how to use a gun, a knife, how to move around unnoticed, and how to fight if it comes to weaponless combat. These people were called Apex, they were law enforcers, given missions they had to complete, all to protect those they could, especially children. Though they enforced laws, most missions included killing someone, Apex often came from a traumatizing background, found by the leaders and brought in. Apex often chose code names, and most of their peers wouldn't even know their real name. Apex are all given partners they complete missions and tasks with, partners share a room, and protect each other with their lives. Partners are trained together and grow up together, often they are close friends, because partners must be loyal to each other, while still being loyal to the Apex. Losing your partner is detrimental to an Apex, they are given time off missions to recover a bit, but they are given a new partner that they must complete missions with as they did with their old partner, but often they will never properly connect with their new partner, causing problems with trust during missions. The radiation was found to have never seen before elements that if inhaled, had a chance of mutating DNA to give superhuman abilities, but the element itself was rare and didn't always give special abilities. Very rarely, someone can receive up to two abilities, Most Apex were known to have superhuman abilities, but few of the Apex revealed their abilities to each other, and it is illegal to reveal it to commons.

Phasing and telepathy powers, mute, doesn't express emotion, clever, agile, doesn't like using her telepathy if possible, only using it as a last resort, she is a lot more comfortable using it with Synlion, as she is her best friend and they trust each other with their lives.
