So on Valentine’s Day, the world is roughly divided into three warring states: The ones that passionately spread love and acceptance and post Snapchat stories and Facebook updates and Instagram pictures of their special day out with the bae- they’re basically Cupid’s minions. Then there are the ones who hate Valentine’s Day with a stormy fervor not even seen in the depths of hell- be it because their significant other dumped them, they think you should love each other every other day of the year, or just because they freaking want to. And then there are the ones who, to put it simply, just don’t give a shit. Celebrate Valentine’s Day, don’t, who even cares? So to commemorate these three very special groups of people, Watt_A_Nerd_Magazine brings to you three very different playlists, a little something for everybody.

Enjoy!

Valentine’s Day for the Romantics

So you’re the roses-and-hearts types of people, and is that really such a crime? You’re planning a nice night out, maybe a classy restaurant, a picnic under the stars- whatever it is, this playlist is sure to make the date a 100x more romantic!

5. Bailando by Enrique Iglesias is the stuff of fanfiction- it is that song that you can grab someone and mock salsa with them under the moonlight to- or just play it on repeat in the car as background music to, ahem, other activities. And let’s face it- Spanish makes everything much sexier.

4. Thinking Out Loud by our very own Ed Sheeran is the ultimate love song of this century. It’s cute and adorable and the lyrics are probably super relatable and are perfect for that one person you’re in a committed relationship with. What more could you ask for? Besides a personal Ed Sheeran concert for you and your +1 of course.

3. But if you’re looking for your date to be on a goofier, lighter side, New Romantics by Taylor Swift is definitely where it’s at! This song is the definition of running with your boyfriend/girlfriend through a crowded carnival, eating cotton candy and riding the Ferris Wheel.

2. But of course, what would a romantic song list be without All of Me, by our favorite John Legend. Quickly rising to the top of the charts, this song took our hearts by storm last year, and seems to be the song this year.

1. And rounding off our list at number one, is my personal favorite, Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth! Everything about this song, from the soft-spoken tone to the intense lyrics to the perfect harmonization of the male and female voices just screams romance.

Valentine’s Day for the Haters

Yes, Yes, I know, you’re not really haters, you just think the idea of Valentine’s Day is vile and stupid and are literally just a marketing ploy for card/gift companies (Hallmarks, we’re looking at you.). You roll your eyes at the sappy statuses, strengthen your resolve against the stupid pictures- It’s just not for you. But fear not, because this list?

It is.

5. So, this song is dedicated to that one friend who is so obsessed with the idea of Valentine’s Day that they’ll go to any lengths for a date. And yes, I’m talking about No Good For You by Meghan Trainor (her entire album is gold, to be honest.) Some friends just never learn, and to avoid the tears and sobs of ‘Why doesn’t he love me anymore?’, just send over a handy little YouTube clip of this song. There! Problem solved.

4. And then we have the song that had to make an appearance on our list, because Me, Myself and I by Beyoncé is way too important to not be on this list. From one of the strongest females in this music industry, this song reminds us who great it is to give some special love and attention to the three most important people in your life.

3. What would this list be without our very own Cee Lo Green? We’ve been blasting Forget You from our speakers and singling it off key for a while now, and Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect opportunity to bring it back. Who needs those materialistic little couples anyways? And if you’re really daring (or really bitter, it depends) we suggest the explicit version. The very explicit version.

2. And now we come to the song we’ve been singing in the car since the tender age of 7. No Scrubs by TLC is the ultimate I-don’t-need-no-man anthem, and it’s sassy, classy and oh so fun. What’s not to love? So those boys hitting on you at the club when you’re out with your friends on V-Day and they think you’re some sad, lonely chick? Yeah, you’ll show them.

1. And now we have the obligatory Single Ladies by Beyonce because what would this list be without it? Do I even need to say anything?

Valentine’s Day for Those Who Really Just Don’t Give a Shit

You don’t care. That’s it. You really just don’t. So while everyone’s blowing up about Valentine’s Day, just sit back and blast these songs out of your speakers. Maybe they’ll get the message this time.

5. Really Don’t Care by Demi Lovato. Demi Lovato is our favorite queen, and she tells it like it is; we really don’t care, and we really don’t want to.

4. And next we have So What by Pink!, because seriously, so what? You’re in a relationship? So what. You hate Valentine’s Day? So what. You’re still a rock star (or maybe not), and you’re definitely above all this.

3. Wasted by Tiesto also perfectly covers our emotions, because really, wouldn’t everyone be much better company if they ditched their petty feud and decided to get well and truly wasted? Maybe then instead of listening to stuff you don’t really care about you can hear people spill about their embarrassing crushes or embarrass themselves on the dance floor. Much more entertaining.

2. Or maybe we should take a cue from Taylor Swift, and just Shake it Off. I mean, it’s not like we care anyways, right?

1. And finally we have Rude by Magic, because God do those people need to chill. I don’t really want to marry anybody, but please stop trying to involve me in your V-Day arguments. It’s rude and weird.

And that concludes our Valentine’s Day Special! Be sure to vote if you used a playlist, and tell us more about the songs, your opinions, and what else we should have added!
