Cougar King and the Forest
Once upon a time, there was a forest that every animal valued. It was their world. Many of the animals didn’t like their king. He was very lazy, and only cared about power. Cougar King was his title. One day, a psychic dove said that some day soon, their beloved forest would be torn down by terrible creatures.
“What?!” roared Cougar King. “My kingdom will NOT be torn down! I have made sure that this place is secure. Your vision is wrong you fool!” so the dove left.
All of the king’s warriors were there at the time and believed the dove. The next day, Morning Star (a tigress) went out into the forest to find what terrible creature could do such a thing. She made it very far when she heard noises. It was humans! They were destroying their world! Morning Star rushed to tell the king of the news.
“Bah! There is no such thing. Bring me proof and I will believe you. Until then, this forest is a peaceful place.” replied Cougar King.
So since the warriors trusted Morning Star, they prepared for a battle. Cougar King didn’t. The next day, the humans were cutting trees down where Cougar King lived. And since he wasn’t prepared, he ran to Morning Star and begged for help. They drove the humans out and saved their forest.
“I am so sorry I didn’t believe you, I should’ve been prepared.” said Cougar King.
Moral: it is too late to prepare for danger when our enemies are upon us.
