I was kept in the dark for 6 years. The day if found out, I broke down in the middle of school.

It was the end of fifth grade. One day, after school, Reagan told me she was moving. She was crying. I felt so sorry for her, and our friendship, but something didn't feel right. Thinking back on it, she had loved theater, and was great at lying, but I knew her well, so I knew something was off. She told me she would be moving to Minnesota sometime that summer, but wasn't sure exactly when. She said we'd have to say a proper goodbye at the end of every day in case they left in the middle of the night and wouldn't let her say goodbye. Wow. Thinking back, I can't believe I didn't see through that! Why would they take of in the middle of the night? It's not like they were running from the law. Sorry. Facts, Chloe, facts. Get back to the story.

So we did. Every night of June, when we said goodbye, we hugged like it was the end. Sometimes we cried. And then one day, she was just gone. I walked over to her house and it was empty. The lights were off, and the shades were drawn. I can't believe how stupid I was. There had never been a 'For Sale' sign or anything. I didn't even look in the windows. I'm sure the were there. Sorry.

So just like that, Reagan was gone. I never called her, never asked how she was, she was dead to me. If only I had known. So, I was sad for a while, but I made more friends.

As time went on, I began to miss her, to wonder what had happened to her. I wondered why I had never called her. Why she had never called me. Why I had never seen or heard from her since the day one week before her eleventh birthday.
