Admittedly, Art History has never treated her particularly well.
This class is about as interesting as watching paint dry, the texts are low-quality scans with the smallest font and absolutely no line spacing whatsoever. Any friends that Sora had in that class dropped out after a while, leaving her trapped in a void of pressure with no support.
But, out of everything she thought Art History would do to her, like charging her $200 for a textbook she doesn't understand at all, taking away her precious practice time, giving her dark circles that stretch all the way to her chin, and making her yawn so much she's sure her jaw is unhinged. This is by far the absolute worst.
It's already horrible because Sora's Art History final is on the last possible day and the latest possible time, worst of all, she has a flight to catch. So when the clock hits 8:30 and Sora has absolutely had it with the semester, she realizes that something is terribly wrong.
The hammering in her heart intensifies as she's overcome by panic and dread, she's only ever heard horror stories about overtime finals, most of the time, they can always be rescheduled. But it's the last day, that's just her luck. The flight is in half an hour, and she's not exactly fond about flushing away a $300 plane ticket.
This is just her luck, really. All those days she's skipped class or dozed off, those days when she didn't turn in her homework or forgot about her deadlines, Art History has decided to come back and smack her in the face one last time.
But, honestly, Sora's expected her last day of school to have gone much smoother.
- She set her alarm at 7:00, intending to wake up and have a productive day of packing and studying.
- She ended up waking at 10:00, having snoozed through all of her alarms.
- She realizes that she has nothing left in her dorm to eat, so she ended up eating a jar of peanut butter for breakfast.
- She Skypes her parents to assure them she'll be coming home, hanging up around 1:30.
- She forgot to do the laundry and didn't want to bring dirty clothes back, so she did the laundry until 4:00.
- She stuffs everything in her suitcase, freaking out when she finds out it's already 5:00.
- She takes a shower and proceeds to relax, when she gets out, she realizes it's 15 minutes to finals.
- She dashes across the field with absolutely no dignity left, and manages to get there on time.
- She is taking the final exam, which is annoyingly hard, and it's clear that she's screwed.
- She watches as her finals run overtime for about half an hour.
- She watches as her finals run overtime for about an hour.
- She watches as her finals run overtime for about an hour and a half.
On the last day of school, Sora watches as her finals run overtime for about two hours, she can hear the chatter outside the classroom as students get ready to go home. Her flight for home had taken off about an hour ago, due to some strange instant karma determined to ruin her life.
Sora doesn't have any friends staying on campus, and definitely does not have any money to buy another ticket. She reaches for her phone, but pulls back when she doesn't have the energy to call and explain to her parents.
She rolled her suitcase across the cobblestone walkway, feeling angry tears prick her lash line as the thunder booms behind her. Her teeth chattered loudly. It was, ironically, the dead of winter. The rain stained the ground as she ran to the nearest building, not wanting to catch a cold in this bitter weather.
