Hello.

This is a story about me, Alex. And yes I'm a girl, but my name can be used for both genders. Kind of confusing sometimes. Okay so, my name is Alex and I'm 16 years old. I live in a small village where everyone knows each other. Seems nice, but for me it's a problem. You see the thing is, I'm a little different. When I was younger, sure there were people my age with imaginary friends, but my friends were ghosts. REAL ghosts. Not imaginary, but real people who used to live here. When my mom played along and asked what they looked like I completely described the mayor from when my mom was a little kid. It was impossible for me to know him, because he died before I was born, but my mom still remembered him and freaked out. We went to a doctor to see if something was wrong with me, but I was perfectly healthy. So the problem with everyone knowing each other is that they also know me, the freaky kid who sees ghosts.

I grew up without any friends. I had only ghosts to keep me company. When I was young I didn't see the problem and I liked being with my ghost friends, but now that I'm older I understand how awful it is having no living friends. I now have a friend group. These are their names and the ages they were when they died: Heather/Sammy: 8, Max: 10, Lydiana/Hazel: 17, Kasper and Cassandra/Cassie: 18 and lastly George: 19. You know, somehow they aged with me as soon as a reached the age of 13. But I don't mind having them always stay around my age (except Sammy and Max). Just for your information, Sammy and Max are siblings, Hazel and George too and Kasper and Cassie are twins. They never really told me how they died, but I don't mind. That seems like a sensitive topic to me.

I know my story is weird and unbelievable, but it's still my story and I just need to tell someone. My parents never allowed me to talk to other people my age so I wrote my story down. Hopefully someone will read this. But I'll be dead by then. At least I'm with my friends forever.

-Alex
