Harry woke up from the really annoying ringing of his alarm clock, constantly getting louder the longer he refuses to get up and put it out. He groaned and buried his head in his white pillow.

Usually, he was actually good at getting up in the morning pretty quickly, but today was the first schoolday after summerbreak and on top of that, his first day at his new school. He moved to New York City with his mother this summer because she got a great job opportunity she just had to take.

They arrived at their new home a couple weeks ago so he already had the chance to get used to the new city a bit eventhough it was pretty big and he still didn't have the best overview after all.

But, thanks to his mother, he actually already got introduced to a girl who went to the same school he was about to visit for the first time today. Her name was Ivy and she, together with her parents and her younger brother Samuel, was Harry and his mother Annes neighbor. Actually they even lived in the same house.

On their first day in New York City, Anne dragged Harry along to say hi to all their new neighbors. Harry wasn't really in the mood, he was tired from the long day and he was shy when it came to strangers, but his mother insisted to introduce themselves in their new home to make a good first impression and to have some social interactions.

They lived in a house with four different apartments in it, themselves staying on the third floor. Above them lived an older married couple, really nice people. First floor lived a man in his thirties, alone. When he opened the door, the scent of smoke and alcohol lingered through and Harry was quick to understand that this man was really not a big talker. He seemed to be really glad when they moved on and to be honest, so was Harry. There was something about this man that made him uncomfortable but he couldn't quite pin what it was exactly. Maybe it was just that Harry wasn't the most social person too.

But right below them lived a girl in Harrys age, long blonde hair and a really pretty smile which immediately showed when she opened the door. She introduced herself as Ivy and it wasn't long that the rest of her family joined her. They actually had a pretty good conversation and Ivy suggested to meet sometime so they could get to know each other better before school starts. Harry was thankful that she was so outgoing and including, him being the opposite. But she really made him feel comfortable so he said yes.

They had met a couple times now which made it a bit easier for Harry considering he didn't know anyone else in this to him  completely new city. Ivy was a really nice person and he was glad they met and she went to the same school as him. They also were arranged to meet and go there together today.

Thinking of that, Harry finally found the motivation to roll out of bed and turn off the alarm. He then made his way to the bathroom, brushing his teeth and splashing his face with cold water, trying to wash away the sleep from his eyes. After that, he got into a pair of black skinny jeans and a basic white T-shirt with brown leather boots. Then he put on some jewellery, thick silver rings on nearly every one of his fingers and a slim necklace with a cross.

After getting ready, he joined his mother in the livingroom, who already finished her breakfast and got up from the table, putting her empty plate in the sink of the open kitchen. Since she had her new job she was always up really early and often came home late. But she seemed to really like it and when she was happy, so was Harry.
