"Absolutely not." said Ophelia

"Ophelia pleeease!" begged jade.

"I'm not going to a high school party to potentially get drunk and do some stupid shit when my dad is away trying to figure out this case."

"Has he told you anything else about it?"

"Nope. Just that there's a woman in court in California and even though he used to work in Massachusetts, he had to fly there. She's not even famous or rich, I don't get why the case was so important for him to help with."

"Just come to the party! You could wear that little black dress your stepmom got you."

"Jade, that was just her attempt at saying 'sorry I married your dad and made him move you halfway across the world so we could live together despite his job that would eventually need him to travel back and forth for court cases. But here's a dress."

"Doesn't mean it's not a nice dress."

"It's too fancy."

"Wear it with sneakers, make it a little more casual."

"Fine, but only for a couple of hours, then we leave." She got up from her bed where she and Jade were making paper rings and she went to the closet to get the dress.

After an hour or so of getting ready, the two drove to the party down the road, it was a girl named Maya Henry's, another daughter of a lawyer so naturally, she had a huge house just like Ophelia and she was using it to host a party.

When they walked in jade found Maya, and... Liam?

"Hey Liam, hi uh... Maya right?"

"Yup, what's your name?"

"Ophelia." She muttered noticing how close Liam and Maya were dancing.

"Want a drink?" Ophelia was underage. She was surprised everyone was drinking, She knew she could. There were no adults around plus, she was just a few months away from 18.

"Just a cherry coke, I'm driving." She lied.

She sat at the bar as she eyed Jade dancing around anyone and everyone. She watched as her drink was being made then she took a huge sip as soon as she was served.

"A fan of cherry I see?" she heard the deep familiar voice

"Of course, you're holding a cigarette, I wouldn't expect anything else." He nodded

"I could say the opposite for you. Never took you for a party girl if I'm being honest."

"Because I'm 'uptight' and 'too serious' or because I'm new?"

"Can't put my finger on it, to be frank."

"Well, I'm here." Ophelia said before gulping the last of her drink.

"Where's your boyfriend tonight?" she looked at him confused "Or did you not put a label on it yet?"

"Who are you talking about?"

"That lad, Zayn his name was." She chuckled once she realized he thought they were dating.

"Not dating." She corrected

"Fucking?" he asked

"Excuse you." she said somewhat jokingly, but then seriously: "We're friends."

"Speaking of the devil," Harry spoke as he saw Zayn walk towards Ophelia.

"Hey fee, how's it going?"

"It's going." She said quietly. "By the way Zee, blonde girl by the DJ, leather jacket, tall, hazel eyes, totally your type."
