Content warning: violence, profanity, threats
Two days after the ball I was making my way towards Will's living quarters, wringing my hands with anxiety. I might have been confused about what to do about Cyrus but this I wasn't confused about, I had to officially end things.
Yes, he would have been a moron to not understand that things were over but I wouldn't underestimate his audacity to try to exploit the fact I had never actually broken up with him.
I tentatively knocked on the door, after a minute the door swung open. Will looked back at me with anger and disgust.
"What the fuck do you want?" his voice dripped with disdain.
I forced myself to look him directly in the eyes, to hold my ground. "I think we should talk."
He looked at me and seemed to consider his options before standing back from the door and gesturing for me to step inside. I pushed myself across the threshold and stood uncomfortably in his living room as he aggressively shoved the door closed behind me.
"Go on then." he said while walking past me dismissively. I began to fill with anger as he proceeded to dump himself on the sofa and play on his phone without looking at me.
"I said we need to talk!" I shouted.
"Not stopping you, am I?"
I strode over and ripped his phone out of his hands. "We. As in you need to be part of the conversation!"
"What the fuck, bitch?" he got up and grabbed his phone back. He was now stood across from me, enraged.
Shit, I shouldn't have done that.
"Can't you just say your sorry and leave? Do you really think acting like a bitch will get me to forgive you?"
"Forgive me? Yeah, I probably should have ended things properly before..." I stopped, realising it was useless. "I don't need or want your forgiveness. We are over."
I stormed towards the door but he grabbed me by the arm and swung me back around. Getting threateningly close to my face he said, "Over? You think you can just break up with me, bitch, just because you think you've got some kind of better option?"
I was stunned. "What?!"
"You know you they'll never make you Countess without me and yeah if you married that Prince guy... whatever the fuck his name is, you might not need me but as if he would ever actually want you." he spat.
Anger built inside me, I was going to explode, but I remembered all too well how I'd be punished for that so I stifled my anger and took a deep breath.
"I'm leaving." I told him as I pulled my arm from him and began again towards the door.
"This isn't over. I'll make sure you'll never be Countess, stuck up bitch."
I turned and considered his threats. I didn't doubt that he could do that, the advisors would happily accept anything he told them if it discredited me but, it was time I stopped caring.
"Do whatever you like, I don't care." I told him as I looked him in the eye. For the first time I'd ever seen, he looked fazed. Was this the first time he had ever not gotten what he wanted?
I stormed up towards the abandoned wing... there was someone else I had to speak too.
