"Glow sticks have to break before they can glow" my best friend Blythe told me as I had yet another panic attach "and people are the exact same way they have to be broken before the can glow."
Blythe is the only person who knows what all has happened to me. He knows about the abuse, rape, and everything else I went through.
My most recent ex, Josh, ended up raping and abusing me then leaving me. Thankfully I didn't get pregnant. Oh yeah, you wanna know what else he did? He ended up breaking my arm. Yeah, crazy world we live in.
But anyways Blythe hugged me as I continued to have an anxiety attack, whispering sweet things into my ear.
Blythe and I have been friends since birth so he knows everything that happened with my dad. My dad left me when I was 2 I haven't heard from him since. I'm 16 now. My mom always told me it was my fault he left and I believed her.
I tried to commit 3 times. Blythe always caught me and told me not to. He's basically the main reason I'm alive right now.
"You know what's sad?" Blythe asked.
"What?" I asked back.
"Butterflies can't see their wings so they can't see how beautiful they are. To me you're a butterfly because you don't see how beautiful you are" he said which made my heart lift just a little.
As Blythe continued to tell me that he's never leaving and will always be there for me, that's when I realized, I'm in love with my best friend.
