Henry/Jasper Mature Oneshots (COMPLETED)

Pressure

Summary: Henry is having a hard time as he faces up to the pressure of being a hero. He becomes desperate.

WARNING: Depression, and suicidal thoughts.

Being a hero was getting more and more difficult, as Henry struggled to live his everyday life. He wanted to just have a break, but each time, he would be called into action.

His mind was becoming clogged up with praise; he felt happy to be appreciated, but now there was such a big expectation for him to be there, and he worried about letting people down.

He was sat on his bed, trying to forget about everything around him. He wanted to clear his thoughts, to make himself feel sane once more, but he couldn't.

Henry: I don't want to do this anymore, I don't want to be here. I want to stop living!

Looking around, Henry found some pills, and didn't even bother to read the label. He took one out of the bottle, before he heard his door swing open.

Jasper: Henry?

Charlotte: What are you doing?!

Henry didn't answer, looking at his friends with an empty and exhausted expression on his face. He was not sure what to say, feeling that Jasper and Charlotte would be angry.

Henry: Get away from me!

With all of his anger, Henry pushed Charlotte away and punched Jasper, causing him to tumble backwards onto the floor.

Rubbing the side of his face made Jasper wince in pain, before he stood up. Henry put his head in his hands, feeling angry that he would ever hurt his best friend.

Henry: I... Sorry... Oh my, I...

Jasper: It's okay, I'm not angry.

Not wanting to take chances, Charlotte quickly grabbed the pills from Henry, throwing them away and out of sight.

Jasper: Hen? I think we need to talk.

Henry: I don't want to talk Jasper, I just want to stop.

Charlotte: Hey, come and sit down.

Taking Henry's hand gently, Charlotte guided him to his bed, sitting to his right, whilst Jasper would sit on Henry's left.

Jasper: If something is upsetting you, you know you can always talk to us, right?

Henry: You wouldn't understand, and I'm not saying anything.

Charlotte: Okay, we won't force you to talk, but you know we are here for you, don't you?

Henry finally lifted his head up, making eye contact with Charlotte, before turning to Jasper. Seeing the caring, and concerned, looks on their faces proved too much, and Henry started crying. This made Charlotte put her arm around him.

Charlotte: Let it out, it's okay.

Jasper: It hurts to see you suffer, because you are such a good, giving person.

Henry: But I just hit you, why do you care?

Jasper: I know you didn't mean to do it.

Charlotte: I think you need to talk, because if you don't, you'll be in a tough place.

Taking a few slow breaths, Henry attempted to calm down and control himself. He felt Jasper pull him close, hugging them together tightly.

Henry: I... I can't be a hero anymore!

Jasper: But why? I thought you loved helping everyone?

Henry: I do, but now it's getting to the point where if I make a mistake, someone could get hurt, or worse.

Charlotte: I think you know that probably won't happen.

Henry: But it might, and I don't want to have the pressure anymore.

He looked at them, hoping for some reassurance and comfort, but Charlotte remained silent, not really knowing how to address the issue.

Jasper: All you need to know, is that I would always support you.

Henry: Really?

Jasper: If this is proving too much for you, then you should probably take a break.

Henry: A break?

Jasper: Yes, because you need to focus on your own health.

Charlotte: I couldn't have put it better myself.

For the first time in a few months, Henry felt a sense of relief and calm, knowing that Jasper had his back, regardless of what he did.

Henry: Thanks Jasper, that means everything.

Jasper: I'm glad, and I won't put any pressure on you.

Charlotte: Neither will I.

The fact that his friends were understanding made Henry feel much better about himself. He just hoped that he would be able to enjoy his break.
