I originally wrote this story as a school project.
Our English teacher at the time interviewed us on the ¨overall purpose¨ of the text; detailing what we were writing about and why we were writing it. It set us back quite a lot when it came to providing motivation but did give us a set guide-line we couldn't deffer from.
This was my purpose:
The purpose of this Short Story is to practice world-building whilst also telling a heartfelt story about a man dealing with guilt.
Additionally, this piece is based off of a visualization / imaginary scene I see every time I listen to the song "Raven's Decent" by ConcernedApe. I based one or two descriptions in the story off of that.
The novel follows a man named Damien in his trek up a mountain and his conversation with someone who is a manifestation of his regrets.
I used descriptions and language features to help immerse the reader in the scenes, and to also sympathize with Damien along his journey.
