today i present to you, a oneshot of eren coming back to you after the mass genocide he did on marley. if you dont know what im talking about, its episode 5 in season 4. ok!!! onto the story, please enjoy.

no ones pov

nervous? anxious? sad? angry? neutral? you didn't know what emotions you were feeling. today was the day eren was supposed to come back after 4 years. you guys talked through letters and eventually, you realized what his reasoning for being gone was. pacing back and fourth in your room as you waited for more information from commander pxyis.

y/n's pov

after 30 minutes of doing nothing. i decided to walk around town to get my mind cleared. as soon as i stepped foot outside, i saw protesters and a group of people they were surrounding. i decided to get a closer look and there i saw eren in hancuffs. he was walking with the scouts into the prison. protesters yelling at them the whole way. 

tears were streaming down my face as eren locked eyes with me. he looked....different. not in terms of looks, but he looked different. 

my feet instictively ran towards him. just as i was about to touch him, i was pushed to the grouned. i looked up and saw one of the captains staring at me with an annoyed face.  

"you're in the way." he said with a cold deep voice.

i wanted to talk but i couldn't. all i wanted was eren in my arms. i got up to try and hug him again but no. i was pushed to the ground once again.

"tch." was all i heard before i started getting pushed and stepped on. (can you guys guess the captain?? :))

after about 5 minutes of getting stepped on, i got up and headed towards the prison.

i was stopped by soldiers guarding the prison.

"woah, woah, where do you think you're going?"

"im sorry, i'm visiting my boyfriend."

"his name?"

i froze. i couldn't tell them he was eren jeager.

"um..... inosuke....hashibira..?"

they looked at me before laughing in my face. 

"oh my gosh, you're so funny!"

he suddenly stopped laughing. "whats his name?" he said with a cold voice.

i sighed.

"eren jeager.."

they looked shocked. while they were just staring at me with a shocked expression.

"no way that freak has a girlfriend! tell the truth you bitch!"

i sighed before i slowly grabbed their keys and ran to the cell area. i heard their yells at me getting quieter and quieter as i ran down the hall.

i started walking past each cells looking for eren. just as i was about to turn the corner, i heard a recognizable voice. 

"oh? whos there?" i rembered that voice. commander hange. i tried to stay as i quiet as possible as i heard her footsteps coming towards me.

"i guess it was my imagination. anyways, eren, as i was saying!-" i exhaled loudly as i heard her moving away from where i was. 

i stayed there for another ten minutes before hange finally started to leave the prison. i slowly turned to corner and saw eren in a cell looking in the mirror. before i could process what i was seeing, he was already making eye contact with me. tears were flowing from my face as he stared at me emotionless.

"y/n.." he said my name as his eyes softened a litte.                                                           "why are you here?" he said quietly. he walked towards the cell bars seperating us.

"i missed you." i tried my best to say. he sighed and looked at me with a frown. "i'm sorry y/n. i missed you too but im afraid we shouldn't be seeing each other anymore." i gasped.

"why?! is it something i did?! is it because im annoying?! i can cha-" 

"stop, y/n. it's not you. we shouldn't be together because......" he mumbled the rest of his sentence. 

"sorry? i didn't hear what you said...." i didn't understand. why did he want to break up with me? i understand that he was gone for a long time but we were comunicating through letters! how did he change as soon as he came back?

"i said we shouldn't be together because i need to pay attention to more important things."

i looked more shocked than i already was. was i not important enough?

"oh...yeah i get that. fighting in war and stuff....yeah, i totally get it.."

i didn't get it. i was lying straight through my teeth. i tried my best not to let the waterfalls in my eyes pour. just as i was about to walk away, eren grabbed my arm. he has tears in his eyes aswell.

"i'm sorry y/n... you'll understand soon enough."

i smiled as i had the flashback. i wish i had understood before acting so cold to him. now here i am, sitting at his grave.

"i'm sorry eren. i failed you. we all did. don't worry, ill be with you soon."

end.
