Crickets were chirping in every grass scattered in the forest as the cloud slowly revealed the moon that illuminated the forest. There were stars above the sky, the wind crept among the leaves that made rustling sounds, and an owl uttering a hoot like every evening.
It was a peaceful evening in the forest, indeed, only until two people were running, carrying an oil lamp in one man's hand whilst the other was grabbing his lover's hand.
They were running away from their families, the families who rejected their relationship, the families who had been rivals ever since 1790, and because of the rejection of their relationship, the young lady's family had arranged an engagement with the king's Heir, the Prince of Wales.
The young couple truly loved each other, yet many believed that marrying for love was a distraction from one's obligations. And so they planned on running away and living far away from this place, stripping off the title in their names and to be long forgotten from the place where they grew up and where they had first set eyes on each other.
The woman, Lady Aurora Delisle, is the daughter of a duchess and a duke. The man, Lord Nikolai Barlowe, is a son of a Viscount and Viscountess.
Little fire on each stick was dancing far from them, and Aurora seemed to have lost her breath from running non-stop. Her feet were getting tired and her vision became blurry, but she knew that they had to run to catch freedom and live the life they had always wanted, the life that they believed they were fated to live.
However, that is what they thought until Nikolai lost his life that evening and Aurora followed her lover before the day of her wedding to the King's only heir and son.
