✿│Chapter 2│✿

✿Y/N's POV✿

I lay in bed, looking up at the ceiling. I can't stop thinking about him. Why is that? Is it because I've finally found someone who I can be close with? Or is it that I'm catching feelings for him? No, probably not. I've just met him today, already catching feelings would be too soon. Ibara has occupied my mind so much that I can't sleep.

I decided that it would be best to do something to clear my head since I won't be able to fall asleep anytime soon anyway. I put on some warm clothes and shoes and grab my keys and my phone to head out for a walk.

As soon as I step out the front door, I'm greeted by a cold but comforting breeze that sends chills down my spine. It's colder than I expected, but luckily it's not too cold either. The route I will be taking is along the beach. The reason for this is because the view at the beach is always as beautiful as can be. So I hope that not only the walk but also the sight of the night sky at the shore will be able to clear my head.

I enjoy the silent and fresh walk and before I know it, I'm at the beach. I'm at the beach already, so why not enjoy the time spent here? So I sit down in the cold sand, cross my legs and enjoy the sight before me. It's a beautiful night, the sky's colors go from dark violet to indigo to a yellow gold filled with hundreds of stars. I wish someone was here with me to gaze at the stars with, I say in my head, just as I hear someone from behind me say:

❝Y/N?❞

I turn around to face the person who called my name.

❝Ibara? What are you doing here?❞

❝I could ask you the same. I couldn't really sleep so I decided to go on a walk.❞

❝Same, I just had to clear my head a little.❞

❝Would you mind if I watched the stars with you?❞

❝Not at all.❞ I respond, patting the sand next to me.

Ibara sits next to me and gazes at the stars. It's silent, but it's a peaceful and comforting silence. I stare at the man sitting next to me, appreciating the handsome silhouette of his facial features. Soon Ibara realizes I'm looking at him instead of the sky and asks if something's wrong.

❝Oh, nothing's wrong. I was- I was just thinking. Uhm-❞ Baffled at Ibara's sudden question, I stumble over my words.

It's almost like Ibara is smiling at me and my dumbfoundedness, but it could just be imagination. I regain my composure and properly speak this time.

❝Well, I was just thinking. I listened to the playlist you sent me. I really liked it, so I decided to make a playlist for you!❞

❝I'm really glad you like my playlist! Maybe we could listen to the playlist you made for me right now?❞

❝Oh, that's a good idea.❞

I grab my phone and turn on the music for Ibara. We listen to the playlist and have little conversations. After a while, one of my favorite songs comes up.

❝Hey, I like this song!❞ I can't see Ibara's facial expression in the dark but I can tell he's excited.

❝Really? It's one of my favorites!❞ I smile.

The two of us try to sing to the lyrics and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere that has been created. After the song is done, we look at each other and laugh.

❝Hey, it's a bit late. Wouldn't you say it's time to head home? I'll walk you to your place if you want. It can be quite scary on your own around this hour.❞ Ibara suggests after he's done laughing.

❝I'd appreciate that, thank you.❞

The two of us get up and head to my place. Instead of hearing one pair of footsteps in the refreshing wind, I can hear two this time. It's pleasant to have someone walk with you. The company of someone else can be quite comforting, especially if it's someone like Ibara. Time passes by as we walk and soon we're in front of my house.

❝Well, this is my house. Thank you for keeping me company and walking me home, Ibara. It means a lot to me.❞ I turn to face him and smile.

❝Of course! I don't mind helping you out. I really liked hanging out with you tonight.❞

We stand across from each other on the sidewalk, unable to say anything further, indicating that neither of us wants the night to end. Finally, Ibara is the one to break the silence.

❝Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow?❞ As Ibara turns to walk home, I can't bear the sight of him leaving yet.

❝Ibara, wait!❞

Ibara turns to me, awaiting what I'm going to say next. ❝I, uh, just wanted to ask if you could text me when you're home? That way I'll know you got home safely.❞

❝Oh, sure. I'll do that. Goodnight, Y/N.❞ Ibara smiles, which gives me comfort and calms me down a little.

❝Thanks, goodnight.❞

Ibara walks further along the road as I watch his silhouette slowly disappear. Only when Ibara has completely left my sight, is when I open the front door. I walk inside and immediately head for my bed. I wanted to try and clear my head with that walk, but instead, my head is filled with even more thoughts! I hug my pillow as I start thinking about Ibara again. I've definitely caught feelings for him, no doubt. While daydreaming about my new crush, I get a notification.

❝I'm home!❞ It's a text from Ibara.

❝That's great to hear!❞ I respond.

I sigh, wishing the night didn't end yet, and put my phone away. I guess I'll just see him tomorrow. I lay my head on my bed and my eyelids start getting heavy. I drift to sleep faster than I thought I would.
