Location: Hyuuga Compound
~3rd Person POV~"Grandpa!" A familiar looking indigo-haired girl yelled as she ran inside the Hyuuga compound to hug the man. The man's eyes were cold and stern and were a lavender color.
The girl engulfed the older man in a bear hug. Hiashi Hyuuga looked at the child, confused. 'Grandpa?' What is she talking about? My oldest daughter is about 12 and Hanabi is younger than that.Who was this? She seemed to be no harm, but still. She looked similar to his own daughter, Hinata Hyuuga.
Beside the man was a boy, about the same age as the girl, maybe even older. He also had the same dojutsu, the Byakugan.
The small girl began rambling.
"I missed you! I couldn’t find my house or mommy or daddy, so I came here! Mommy says that whenever I'm lost that I should go to the closest place to ask for directions. Can I stay here and wait for mommy?" The indigoette gave her grandpa puppy dog eyes."Hinata-sama?" The boy next to the man asked. This girl looked a lot like Lady Hinata, but she had the face and whiskers of a certain troublesome blonde.
Himawari pulled back from the hug.
"Uncle Neji!" Himawari pounced on the teenage boy who stumbled backwards as he tried to support her weight.
"Uncle?" Neji thought aloud. "Neji. Your training is done. You will be dismissed. Please deal with this matter." Hiashi said before he walked back into the compound. Neji bowed as respect. Neji then gave his attention back to Himawari. He crouched down and looked at her. "I think you must be mistaken. I am not your Uncle Neji." Neji stated bluntly.
Himawari took a strand of Neji's hair and began braiding it. "My mommy used to talk about you all the time. She told me that you sacrificed yourself to save my mommy and daddy during the Fourth Great Shinobi War." Himawari did not pay any attention whatsoever to what Neji said and continued braiding his hair.
"Little girl, what is your name?" Neji asked.
"I'm Himawari Uzumaki!" She said happily.
'Uzumaki?' Neji thought. 'Like Naruto?'
"Himawari, who are your parents?" Neji asked her.
"Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Uzumaki!" Himawari replied cheerfully. 'My ship sailed.' Neji thought as he did an air fist pump.
"What year were you born?" Neji said, clearing covering up his air pump with a question.
"XXXX" Himawari said.
"Himawari, we'll have to bring you to the Hokage's tower." Neji said standing up.
"Uncle Neji."
"Yes?"
"Can I braid your hair?"
Neji looked down at the girl. "So-"
"I promise it'll be really pretty!"
"Sure." Neji sighed, if this was his niece he's want to naturally spoil her. Neji and Himawari stood at the front of the compound and basked in the comfortable silence while Himawari braided Neji's hair. They stayed like that for a few minutes.
"Neji nii-san?" A soft voice called out.
"Hinata-sama." Neji said standing up and bowing to acknowledge her presence.
"Mommy!" Himawari said and hugged her young mother.
"Mommy?" Hinata looked from the girl to Neji and from Neji to the fishtail braid in his hair. Hinata looked a little startled from the sudden hug, but ended up hugging back once she saw that Neji wasn't doing anything.
"She is not supposed to be here. I am safe to assume that she is from the future." Neji explained.
"Ah. I see." Hinata said not questioning him any further.
Himawari got off her mom. "Please excuse me, Hinata-sama." Neji said bowing.
"I have to bring her to the Hokage's tower." Neji took Himawari's hand in his and began to walk away.
"Wait." Hinata called out.
Neji turned around.
"Would you like to have some tea with me?" Hinata asked, fiddling with her pointer fingers.
"For your appearance's sake, we shouldn't have tea now." Neji said formally, as he always did.
"Oh."
"But perhaps, after I get back from a mission I may take up your offer." Neji gave a slight smile.
"Okay." Hinata said happily. Himawari smiled at this.
Neji began to walk off with Himawari in the direction of the Hokage's office.
"So-- Uncle Neji? I'm in the past?" Himawari asked out of curiosity. She knew eavesdropping was not good, but she decided to make an exception just this once.
"Yes, Himawari. Also, please call me Neji nii-san. I don't want people to think I'm old." Neji said looking away embarrassed.
"Okay, Unc- Neji nii-san!" Himawari said and skipped ahead cheerfully.
