you snuggled back onto the couch with matthew after putting your phone on a charger. you instantly feel his arms wrap around him and you smile widely. you really did love the guy and there was no denying it. it did worry you how many people thought it was weird for you two to be together because of your age gap but you didn't think much of it. sure, he was definitely older than you but not by an astronomically amount, just a handful of years.
"did you have a good birthday", you asked him, looking up at him.
"it would've been good to see my friends or family, but i think it was great just the way it was", he said smiling down at you. you quickly nodded your head and turned your focus to the television in front of you.
"is something wrong, y/n", he asked, looking a bit worried.
"oh, no, not really. just some comments that kinda rubbed me the wrong way but nothing too serious. i'm okay, don't worry about it", you said calmly.
"well now i'm gonna worry about it. what did they say", he asked, using his arms around you to move your body so your were facing him.
"it's not a big deal, it's jus that people are starting to point out the age gap between us and you know, it doesn't mean anything to me, but when people bring it up, it just makes me think about it", you explained.
"i completely understand, love but we're in the relationship, not them. they don't know about the talks we had before we even went on our first date. we had those dates about what it mean for us to date and to do so publicly. we know that, they don', so of course, they're gonna be curious. but if it ever gets to be too much or if you feel like something is wrong, just talk to me", he said beautifully as he cupped your face with his hands.
"i love you, matthew", you smiled before leaning up and kissing him. he kissed you back before pulling away a few moments later.
"i love you too, y/n"
"can we watch a movie now", you asked.
"yeah sure, what do you want to watch", he asked looking at you which you returned his gaze with a smile.
"can we watch alvin and the chipmunks", you asked laughing.
"oh fuck me", he responded.
"maybe later, old man"
