You gripped your bag tightly as you walked through the gates of the school. Memories of the previous days' events had already put you on edge, and coming back to the school that you now knew you'd die in only severed to make it worse.
'When will it happen? Who will do it? Why will they do it?'
You had tossed and turned all night as one question after the other crossed your mind. You stared down at your feet as you entered the school, only for your eyes to widen when you noticed your hand trembling violently.
'There has to be a way to prevent this, right?'
An idea suddenly came to mind, and you rushed down the hall. You entered the classroom and let out a sigh of relief when you found Mr. Tsuchigomori sitting at his desk, grading some papers.
"Mr. Tsuchigomori?" You called timidly.
"Yes, what is it?" he replied distractedly, barely turning to face you.
"Um, I was wondering if there was any way you could change your future?" At that, his head snapped toward you. He stayed silent for a while, the glare of the overhead light casting a glare in his glasses and preventing you from seeing his eyes. Just as you thought you had said something wrong.
"No, there isn't," he said finally, and you lowered your head.
"Oh...Okay." You turned to leave."Wait." You stopped and turned to look at him once more. His expression hadn't changed, and you were too tired to notice the hint of concern in his eyes. "You look a mess. What exactly did you read anyway?"
"I...read that I die soon," you said so quietly that he almost didn't hear it. After a moment, he sighed.
"Come on." He motioned for you to follow him as he exited the library.
"Where are we going?"
"I'm taking you to the nurses' office. You can sleep there during my class as long as you wake up during free period to make up the work."
"Oh...Thanks," you said awkwardly as you followed him.Using his keys, he unlocked the door to the nurses' office, flipping on the light and motioning for you to pick a bed. You chose the one furthest from the door and closest to the window and sat down.
"I'll come and get you when it's time to wake up," he said, turning to leave but stopping in the doorway.
"Oh, and about your future." You looked up at him hopefully. "Try not to think about it too much, alright? If you are going to die soon, then you wouldn't want to spend the rest of your time like this, would you?" You shook your head no before laying down. You tossed and turned for a few minutes before your exhaustion finally caught up with you, making you fall asleep before you even realized it.
"Hey...Come on. It's time to get up." You slowly opened your eyes to see Mr. Tsuchigomori standing next to the bed. "Your next class is about to start," he informed, and you stared at him for a moment, almost forgetting how you'd gotten there in the first place.
"Oh," you muttered once everything came back. You were still tired but not nearly as tired as you were before.
"Thank you, sir," you said, and Mr. Tsuchigomori watched you leave before sitting down on the bed and taking out a red book with the name 'Y/n L/n' written on the cover. He opened it and flipped through it to the chapter that read future.
