your mouth feels as if it were a drought as you feebly  press send on your phone.

y/n: hi, can you come over? i need to talk to you.

you quickly set your phone face down- there's no use in you reading his reply. unshed tears have blurred your vision so much that words have become unrecognizable.

drawing your knees to your chest, you let your cheeks become a saturated mess. the hollow feeling harboring inside you increased with every pathetic mewl that escaped from your lips.

minutes turned to what felt like years traipsed along until a loud sing-song patterned rap on your dorm door snapped you from your lugubrious trance.

"n/n, im heeeereeeeee~!" the mirthy voice of your boyfriend emerges from behind the door. "i'm coming in :D !"

you swiftly swat at your face, attempting to rid yourself of evidence that you'd been crying just a moment ago. before you could straighten out your bed, your door flew open, and in the room gojo sashays.

"hey n/n! sorry it took me so long, itadori got hurt and i had to take him to the— have you been crying? what's wrong?" in one swift motion, gojo shuts the door behind him and sits in the chair next to your bed. you don't even have to look at him to see that he has concern written all over his face. as fatuous and inane as he is, when it comes to you being hurt, gojo throws all of that out the window.

it takes you a moment to collect your thoughts and find your voice. how should you say this? will he be upset? will he even care? will you mess up and make him hate you forever? are you-

"we should break up." your own voice surprises you. it sounds small and unfamiliar, like you spoke the words with someone else's tongue.

taken aback, all gojo can do is look at you. "what?", he snorts.

"i-uh... i don't really think it's working out."

at this point, you willed yourself to look up at the man you loved. perplexion etched his pulchritudinous features. "what do you mean it's not working out, yesterday, we spent the whole day out together! what do you mean?"

you tore your eyes away from him. you couldn't bring yourself to as much as look in his direction.

"...sorry gojo."

the use of his last name startled him. why were you doing this? everything was fine just yesterday, what happened?

"was it something i did?"

"wha- no! you didn't do anything wrong, it's just- it's just..." no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't seem to force out the words.

"...it's just what?" gojo was growing impatient.

"you're perfect! you're so damn perfect, and yet you're with me? you can get anybody you fucking wanted, but you had to settle for me? im useless! i can barely handle a mission without having to have you jump in and save my ass every damn time, i can't teach these kids worth a damn, and without jujutsu, im just some insecure nobody who can't do shit for themselves! and yet you still settled for me? you shouldn't set your standards so low, i'm just holding you back at this point. i- i just want you to be happy without having to pre-"

your tirade was cut off by a pair of lips meeting yours in a soft, yet passionate kiss. it lasted for a moment before gojo pulled away. he grabbed your chin, tilting your head upwards to look him in the eyes. he was peering at you over his dark shades, cerulean eyes piercing into your soul. the corners of his lips turned upwards in levity.

"ya done yet shawty?"

"..."

"good. now, if you think all those things, i can't change your mind, but i can tell you that it's not true. i love you for you and that's that. it's up to you if you believe it or not. now if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna give you some time to calm down and rest."

he got up and strolled through the door. just before closing it, gojo popped his head back in.

"oh, and about that "breaking up?" ...yeah, you're not getting rid of me that easily, sunshine."
