Untamed

Chapter One

I am Gracee Stark. The first thing most people think of when they hear the last name Stark is Tony Stark. And yes, the self proclaimed genus, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, is my dad.

Back when he used to be a playboy, he accidentally got a famous reporter pregnant. This famous reporter was my mom, and she died giving birth to me. She had no living relatives, so she left me in her best friend's custody. When her best friend realized she wasn't ready to raise me, she left me at Tony's front door with a note. He had a DNA test done, and it was confirmed that he was my dad.

When Pepper entered his office the next morning, Tony was working with me in a sling. He may seem too self involved to be a father, but he says that day was his wake up call.

He has kept me a secret from everyone but Pepper, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the Avengers. If I leave Stark tower with him, he is in disguise and I go by the name Gracee Saunders.

I remember being so excited when Nick Fury told my dad about the Avengers Initiative. After their first mission together, the Avengers visited the tower regularly and quickly became my family.

I met Nat when she was undercover as Natalie Rushman. She quickly became one of my favorite people when she secretly took me out to eat ice-cream or go shopping. She insisted that I be taught how to defend myself from a young age, and she has trained me ever since.

Steve and I met when he found me outside,  sledding on his shield. Ever since then, he has been just as protective over me as my dad. The only thing they have ever agreed on was that I was safer in the tower. To keep me entertained, he let me watch popular movies that came out while he was in the ice with him.

I don't see Thor as often as the others because of his frequent visits to Asgard, but everytime he comes home, he hugs me first. He has always told me that I'm his favorite Midgaurdian.

Clint and I got close through archery. One time when we were practicing, Loki transformed into a snake and slithered by me. I didn't know it was him, and I shot him. This earned a high five from Clint, who is still holding a grudge. Loki teases me endlessly about how I screamed when I saw him.

Bruce homeschools me, and I help him in the lab. He has never gotten mad and turned into the Hulk when accidentally I make things explode, which I appreciate.

Hydra discovered my existence through their undercover agents in S.H.I.E.L.D., and I was unknowingly a target. They knew how important I was to each of the Avengers, and that they could use me to get whatever they wanted.

They kidnapped me when I was 12, and I haven't been the same since. I was kept in a cell near the rooms used to torture prisoners, and I was forced to endure the sound of screaming and the smell of burning flesh. Blood streamed under the door and into my cell, and I had to hide in the corner to avoid it.

Recordings of me being tortured were sent to the Avengers Tower daily, and it was a week before the Avengers discovered where the Hydra base was. As soon as the Hydra leader realized they were under attack, he ordered a scientist to inject me with an unfinished serum they planned the test on me once it was finished. This serum gave me powers designed to kill me.

I will never forget the feeling of it coursing through my veins. It burned, and all I could do was scream. That was when my dad found me.

The Avengers destroyed the base, and killed everyone inside. In the flight back to Avengers Tower, Bruce did tests on me and figured out a way to weaken the serum. I coded multiple times, but he kept me alive.

I was trained to control my powers, and instructed to never use them to their full capability. This meant that I wasn't allowed to join the Avengers on missions.

I stayed in the Avengers compound with Pepper during Ultron, and when the Avengers returned, there were new members. Wanda, Pietro, and Vision.

Wanda and Pietro were twins that had joined Hydra and received powers from the mind stone. Wanda's powers were similar to mine, but manifested red instead of black. Pietro was fast, and had narrowly escaped being shot. Vision was created by Ultron, but had fought against him.

Then Civil War happened. My family was divided, and I stayed home while they fought in Germany.

I heard about the new recruits from Happy, the head of security and one of my dad's best friends. There was Bucky, who is a super soldier and Steve's best friend, a member of the Air Force who flies in a falcon suit named Sam, a man named Scott Lang who calls himself Ant-Man, and a boy my age that calls himself Spider-Man. I'm still wondering why there is an Ant-Man and a Spider-Man.

It was a week after everyone returned and were assigned rooms at the compound that they left again temporarily. Steve, Pietro, Wanda, and Vision went to Scotland, Bucky went to Wakanda with the new King T'Challa, Nat went to Budapest to reunite with her family and destroy Red Room, Clint and Scott were on house arrest, and Thor and Bruce were still no where to be found. The only person I hadn't met was Spider-Man, because his identity was a secret.

Eventually everyone returned to the compound and we became family again. There were no missions, but when there were, I would be ready.
