youre in your mid 20's and you've decided to take over a bookstore in a small town because your local owners are closing. you don't have any dept because you decided to work after high school instead of going to college, and traveled for a couple of years after that. you've decided to use the rest of your savings on this shop in hopes of creating a perfect cozy space. so after a couple of months of remodeling, the shop is finished. it is a beautiful space, packed with tall deep wood bookshelves, a warm toned patterned carpet, dark wood floors and a spiral staircase, tapestries, mushroom lights, and it always smells like warm paper and vanilla incense. there are reading nooks littered throughout the store with couches, bay windows, and forts that are cushioned corners with a canopy overhead. but by far, the best part of the store- is the rescue cats that roam freely. you've adopted them all slowly from kill shelters, and they are truly the sweetest souls. you live in the loft/attic area above the store, it gets a bit cold during the winter but there are always more blankets. you love the customers at the store, you have your regulars (old widows, tumblr teens, and loners) and tourist just stoping in. your favorite person however, is your best friend who runs the coffee shop next door. they opened it shortly after you took over the bookstore, because you vowed to follow each other anywhere. and of course, they adore the bustle and baking the fresh goods to go along with the drinks every morning. they've always been more motivated, more busy-bee than you are anyways. most of the people who visit end up going to both of your shops, considering they are connected and incredibly convenient. they live in a studio apartment near by, but honestly spends more nights there with you than anything. you tend to just start talking and realize it's way to late for them to walk home, besides there are always so many fun things to do. watch a movie, debate a book, spend time with the kitties, play games, drink or smoke, order take out, listen to the rain from my attic window, dance to nostalgic music, and just hang out.
you are both passionate to shopping, fashion, and aesthetic- so most of your bonus money goes to you both sitting behind your computer picking out the perfect pieces with each other. your bookstore does pretty well surprisingly, and their coffee shop is always busy so you get to enjoy little trips to places you see together in a passing glance, and go to your favourites concerts once in awhile. it's a comfortable little life.
