It was a bright summers morning, the warm rays of the sun shone through Maddie Taylors window who was already awake, sitting in bed scrolling through her news feed on her phone. She sighed heavily as she switched it off and put it on charge. Maddie swung her legs out of bed and gave a big stretch before rubbing her eyes vigorously. Suddenly her mum burst in to tell her to wake up but was surprised to find she already was.
"Wow, you're up early"
"Yeah, first day of the new term, might as well"
"Okay well I'm going to prepare toast come down when you're ready"
As Maddie's mum left the room her phone lit up, it was a message from her best friend Violet Stevens which read,
'Good morning, meet you at your house at 8:00?'
'Yupp (smiley face)' Maddie texted back.
She had exactly 1 hour and 23 minutes to get ready for school before leaving with Violet. Maddie dashed downstairs and sat the breakfast counter where she waited for her mother to serve up some peanut butter spreaded toast. When it was she scoffed it down immediately like she had never eaten before. Then she got changed, had a wash, brushed her long brown hair thoroughly then waited in the living room for Violet who was due any second.
