Devastation struck last year at the Malibu Junior Rescue. Their organization was under the control of evil genius and overall bad guy, Thornton Pavey. In his efforts to remove all things valley from the Junior Rescue program, he blew up one of the lifeguard towers to make it appear as if it was done by the Valley kids. However, he didn't expect said kids to thwart his plans and stop it from happening. In doing so, one of their own got caught up in the destruction.
Kris Knight, in attempt to save any bystanders from getting hurt from the exploding tower, suffered from it herself. Just as she reached Tower Six, it exploded with her inside of it. It launched her across the beach in heap of scattered rubble and broken bones. A miracle that she survived. And it's true, it was just that: a miracle.
Kris knows that there was a strong likelihood that the explosion would've killed her, but somehow it didn't. And she wasn't taking it for granted. Before, she found her living for others and not standing up for herself. No more. Now, she's going to be exactly who she wants be, 100% unapologetically. She's gonna start living for herself and putting herself first.
And that's how she spent most of the school year. In her recovery, she grew into herself. She's now a strong, confident, independent woman. As she motherfucking should.
School's out and Kris finds herself back at Junior Rescue. She's excited to see everyone again, Tyler the only one she's seen due to them going to the same school and being best friends since the diaper days. But with new faces, an international competition, and years old expired coleslaw, it'll be anything but a normal summer for the Malibu Junior Rescues.
a/n the sequel is now being written! i'm so excited to continue this story. i have so many ideas of what i want to do. and this book will be better written than the other one. comment some things you might like to see and be on the lookout for any updates.
