It was a Wednesday night. Nothing eventful was supposed to happen. I was sitting in my dorm room starting on an assignment that I had put off for far too long. The wind was blowing through the open window, caressing my face as it carried the faint hum of cicadas and the salty smell of the ocean not far from the campus.

I had just about finished my first draft when the tranquility that I had been immersed in was distrusted by the sound of music coming from somewhere outside my window.

Most people wouldn't be surprised by this as living on a university campus was bound to result in music coming from near by at all times of day. But for me it was strange because I live on the 8th and top floor of my building. No one should be outside my window.

Seeing as I am quite foolish in these situations, it took me a moment to realise that the sound was coming from the window directly below mine. After realising that I wasn't going mad, I took my time to listen to the music.

It seemed quite harsh and sounded like the singers of the songs were yelling the lyrics. After using Shazam to find out the song that was playing and the artist (It was I Don't Care by Fall Out Boy) I decided that I would give them a taste of some good music.

Taking my phone off charge I opened my Spotify and selected that perfect playlist to show them what good music sounds like.
After shuffling 'Bonnie's Badass Backstage Boogie' I turned my phone volume up as far as it could go and placed it as close to the window as I could.

The bass riff of Another One Bites The Dust by Queen filled the night air, the music coming from below drowned out by the vocals. I started to get into the song, getting out of my chair and dancing around the room, being cautious about the volume of my singing.

The song played through and I Hate Myself For Loving You began to play. It was then that I forgot my surroundings and belted out the lyrics, being taken to the crush I had on the I see in the elevator each morning. Marceline her name is. Her gorgeous black hair cut just below her chin and her mischievous smirk had me enticed from our first meeting.

I didn't realise it was an actual crush until I noticed her wearing a Queen t-shirt. Not just any Queen shirt but one of the Queen album cover. Since then I have made sure that whenever I see her I turn my music up a little louder so that she can hear Freddie Mercury's voice serenading me.

As the song faded I heard a new sound coming from outside. Pausing my music I took time to listen. The sound of a voice singing Dreams entranced me, the singers voice rivalling that of Stevie Nicks herself. I knew that the sudden change in genre had to have been caused by me playing my music.

As the night went on we played and listened. It was like some kind of unspoken agreement between the two of us, we would play our music but not break the spell by talking.

Eventually we had to turn the music off due to noise restrictions but the magic of that Wednesday night lasted well into the morning.

Climbing into the elevator the next morning I stood there trying to pick a song when the door dinged open and the beautiful presence of Marceline filled the small metal box. The doors closed and we began the slow decline to the ground floor.

I noticed her watching me and tried to hide my blush and pick a song when her voice startled me.

"You know Bonnie, you sing Joan Jet pretty well"

Without another word she handed me a piece of paper with her phone number scrawled on it in perfectly formed letters. On the opposite side she wrote:

𝑀𝑎𝑦𝑏𝑒 𝑛𝑒𝑥𝑡 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑤𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑐 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑜𝑤.

There you have it. My first one-shot but after some shots.

I have had this idea in my head for a week because a similar but not really thing happened to me where I played my music and managed to get the person in the room below mine to play some music that was more my taste ( They were playing very current pop music)

I hope you enjoyed.

Also, comment a ship from any fandom and I'll give writing a one-shot about them a go next time I drink.

Love you alll

Sober Teahn here. Just letting you know that I didn't proofread it and also will not be doing so.

As I wrote above if you have a ship that you would like included in my drunken rambles let me know. I will do some research on the characters and give writing about them a go.

Thanks for reading
