She had escaped from the prison her father had put her in to try and stop her. A bad feeling had started to fester in her gut, she nudged her horse to pick up its pace. She was making her way to where her lover was fighting for his life. Rain was pouring down on her and soaking her clothes but she didn't waste a thought on it. Her mind was solely on her lover, praying and hoping to anyone who was listening that he was fine. She couldn't bear the thought of him hurt or even worse... dead; she shook the thought away.
The feeling in her gut began to grow and she began to worry, willing her horse to go faster, still having miles between her and her Little Bluebird. She cursed her father, how dare he try to choose who she could or couldn't love and marry, that was her choice only and she had chosen him.
He had been with her throughout it all, from the days she felt worthless and couldn't get out of bed, to the days she felt on top of the world. He never let her speak ill about herself or even about her father who hated him deeply. He was too kind but no one took the time to see that, they only saw his fathers mistakes. They believed that he was bound to become like his father, they never saw how he hated his father and swore to never become him. She loved him with her entire being and she had no idea what she would do without him, for he had saved her and her, him.
The wind whipped her hair everywhere, her legs and navel aching, for in her rush to leave she had forgotten to get a saddle but she paid it no attention as she rode through the field. She pushed her horse to go faster when the castle came into her eyesight, she had to make it to him, even if it should be the last she does upon this earth. The bad feeling in her gut had set itself in, she knew something was going to happen and she was scared which says a lot for she was rarely scared. She looked to the castle, which kept the only one she truly loved. Miles still in between them, she grasped at all the hope she had left, he had to be okay, he just had to be, for if he was not she would not survive.
Their swords clashed and scraped after each blow they blocked and gave, they were evenly matched but they were both growing weary. They both were tired from the battle before but had refused to give into the tiredness. Their swords continued to clash against each other, sometimes one would gain the upper hand but never for long. It was like they were stuck in a dance and refused to stop. They continued on for what felt like forever until one sword met its mark and sent one of the two to the floor. Trying to use what little energy he had to get up but pain suddenly tore through his body.
Metal had met flesh.
He fell once more but there was no getting back up this time around. A stream of beautiful scarlet red blood ran from his body, painting the once white floor red. The more of the blood that left him, the more weak and numb he became, his eyes tired, shut themselves to the world around him and his life became a movie before him.
He saw the first time he had met her, the love of his life. Her beautiful chocolate brow locks sway in the breeze as a smile graces her gorgeous face. The look of adoration in her stunning emerald eyes as she looked at her friends in front of her. The next memory was of their first meeting, they had only know each other for a few minutes and she was looking at him with anger flaring in her eyes, she started calling him every name in the book when she had seen he was just smiling at her, but he couldn't help it she just looked so adorable.
The next memory appeared and it was when he got to hear her laugh for the first time. It was the most angelic noise he had ever heard, snorts and all, he had promised from then on he would do everything in his power to make her laugh everyday.
The last memory was his most precious and treasured, it was their first kiss. That was the day he knew he loved her and that she was it for him, she was the one he wanted for the rest of his life. No matter what people said or thought of them , they loved and cared for each other and that was enough. They had made a promise that day to each other, that no matter who or what came between them, they would stick together. They had kept to that promise to that day, even when it seemed hopeless at times and they couldn't see the point anymore, they powered through.
Their love was pure and true, it was like the ones you only hear in fairytales, it kept them together, it kept them strong. He knew that his death would kill her but he prayed with his last breath that she would power through and live a happy life without him. His last thought was of her as his heart stopped.
Finally, she thought as she reached the doors of the castle, she jumped off her horse and ran with all her might, pushing the doors open and rushing to where she knows he is, the sight she is met with stops her in her tracks.
A sob rips through her lips as she runs to the lifeless body of the man she loves. She drops next to his head, gently lifting his head to her lap, she pushes his blonde lock from his face, his face cold to the touch. Tears fall silently from her eyes and onto the only man she will forever love, her Little Bluebird. She places a gentle kiss upon his forehead, her heart dead.
