My fall wasn't a cushioned pillow at all. My face was stuck into the ground. Pairs of hands jerk me up, and I cough out the dirt that was stuffed in my face when I made the fall. My eyes slide towards the figure, which appeared to be Trey.
"You could've warned me!" I snap.
"Sorry" he shrugged.
Distant yells fill my ear, and I look up at the dim light. It's covered by a dark shadow. I move back, allowing the next person to enter.
When the person landed with a loud thud, I expected it to be a fall, but now looking, they landed perfectly on their feet. And I'm not surprised when Ajax's grey eyes interlock with mine.
"You okay?" he grabs my face and checks for any injuries.
I slap his hands off. Although I appreciate the whole protective brother concept, I'm not a little girl anymore.
"I'm fine"
I see sadness in his eyes. Before I have the opportunity to apologize, he turns away and allows the next person to come down. The last person was Roger, and before his fall, he closed the lid. He, I think, actually fell. I'm going to go with it for my sake.
"Everyone okay?" Roger asked. We all answered in an okay. It was pitch black down here. Somebody's hand touches mine, and in reflex, I wrench mine away. When mom was alive, I would've instantly grabbed anyone's hand in stupidity or of fear. But since I went into the city, my manipule taught me that physical contact without self defense is forbidden and dangerous. That it will leave your vulnerable, and from my experience, proved people don't always have the same intentions as you. I feel the hand again, and when I repeat my previous gesture, a familiar, irked voice reaches my ears.
"Take my hand, I'm going to lead you" Ajax says.
I put my hand in his, and let him lead me, just like old times.

We eventually near a lighted passageway, with a clear glass panel, and 4 people with guns in hand, blocking the way. Fear crawls through my body.
"You've found her!" said one of the people. He had sun-blonde hair, brown eyes, and a slacked jaw. He wasn't that attractive, but was decent enough. He wore a brown polo shirt with black pants that everyone behind him seemed to wear, expect for the shirt in different colors."I've never doubted you"
Cole snickered,"Yea right, you said and I quote "Your existence would cease once you took a step over that fence"
"Consider it a joke" he blonde waved him off. His gaze landed on me, and his mouth formed into an "o". He narrowed his eyes, and I could've sworn my body did the same.
"You were right Ajax" he rubbed his chin,"Just like her"
I had no clue of who he was comparing me to, so I push it away for later.
"We need to go in" said Arnold, his expression tight and serious. It seems as if he wants to get inside without side jokes or conversation, but why is out of my prediction. The conversation between Cole and blondie stops. He moves to the side.
"Open it Serena" he says to a girl with short black hair and green eyes, wearing a blue shirt. She turns around, exposing a long panel filled with buttons, keypads, and a speaker. She pressed a red button and a voice sounded.
"Yes?"
"We want entrance for mission 6"
"Code"
She typed in a few numbers that I couldn't hold in my memory because of the rapidity at it. The glass panel slides up, releasing a slow hiss.
"If your wondering, which I know you probably aren't, that glass is bullet proof, and was made as an illusion of glass, but it's really a rubber plastic see-through wall, only accessible to those who know the codes, which are only the group of people who work taking turns at guarding the entrance" says Ajax.
He was right, that wasn't on my mind, but now is the main thing I'm trying to decipher. How could they do that? Who built this?
"But don't get relieved. And believe me when I say that this place is secret, safe, and concealed very well. There are more tests that are needed before we can get into the Wanderer's headquarters, but you'll see, you'll love it. Until then, stay by my side, and go through with test"
And with that we went through another hallway.
