Yuna's POV

Tapping my index finger mindlessly against my desk, I couldn't help but reminisce the man who was at the phone booth last Friday evening.

It was as if the scene was engraved into my memories: his hand lingering on the keypad as he picked up the telephone, his eyes searching the floor for nothing in particular, his heaving shoulders as he struggled for breath.

Just.. what exactly was it about him that caught my attention?

As much as I didn't want to admit it, I knew the answer.

In fact, I repudiated the answer.

It was simple yet irrational; downright ridiculous.

Anyone that is sane would recognize its absurdity, and the explanation I have only proves my point further.

The thing that caught my attention was..

His poignancy.

Not his looks, which I admit was pretty attractive, not his attire, but how sad he looked.

Isn't that crazy?

I sympathized with a complete stranger that I observed from afar and turned a blind eye.

Yet, strangely enough, I don't know why I found myself resonating with him.

Considering that we have no association with each other, it makes absolutely no sense for me to feel this way.

Despite that, I keep thinking about what happened last Friday.

If there's anything I've realized, once the time passes, regret really does start to sink in.

Because no matter how many times I look back, another thought echoes through my mind:

..Should I have talked to him?

As I was subconsciously biting my lip, a can of coffee was placed in front of me with a loud thunk.

Nearly jolting from my seat, my eyes jumped to Yewon's crescent shaped ones.

"If you tap like that, you might drill a hole through your desk." She winks as she leans against the wall. "What's been on your mind?"

"Oh, Yewon-ah." I paused, opening the can in front of me as I peeked at Yewon who was patiently waiting for me to answer. "Nothing much, just.." I open my mouth to speak, but the lump in my throat told me otherwise.

Frankly, I felt hesitant to talk about the man from last week. It was only one encounter, so there was no need to address my concerns.

Besides, knowing her, she would probably fantasize my love life by exaggerating 'love at first sight.'

It would probably be best to stay quiet.

Clearing my throat, I shifted in my seat and held the canned coffee as my eyes drifted to the umbrella in the corner of the room.

"Soonyoung gave me his umbrella last Friday and I don't like to feel indebted." I responded while taking a generous sip.

"Oh! That man from the bakery you always go to?" Yewon's smile widens, her eyes brimming with excitement. "I bet that was why you've skipped drinks last week. So, so! When are you going to ask him out?"
