Dreams don't work unless you take action. The surest way to make your dreams come true is to live them ― Roy T. Bennett
Cricket...a game that many young kids love to play with the other kids in their neighbourhood. Be it on the streets, in the park or in school...cricket has always been a part of their childhood and some of those kids even dreamed to be a successful cricketer like their idol Sachin Tendulkar. Those dreams got shattered as they grew older since their families forced them to either become a doctor, an engineer or a disgrace.
When Omkara Singh Oberoi, Om to close friends, was a little boy, he was like those young kids. At the young age of 4, he used to copy whatever his 9-year-old brother Dhruv did and Dhruv would play crickets with his friends when he didn't have exams. Om grew up in a simple town called and he would play cricket on the streets or on the field near his house with some of his friends. On occasions, he would argue with the older kids for the field. No one could stop Om from arguing with the older kids. Om's parents, especially his dad, would keep telling him to stop arguing with the older kids and focus on his studies. Studies....Om hated his studies more than anything in the world.
Whilst Dhruv eventually stopped playing cricket and focused on his studies, Om focused his attention on cricket and somehow got good marks on his exams. He didn't cheat, don't worry. Society and his family wanted him to be a doctor or engineer, but Om only cared about becoming a successful cricketer like his idols, Sachin of course, Manik Khurana and Siddharth Kumar. His dream was to play for his country. His dream was also not to be shattered by society.
At the age of 15, a coach from Ramakant National Cricket Academy saw Om play in a few school cricket matches and he offered Om a scholarship for the academy but Om would have to move to Delhi. This news created drama in the Oberoi's house since his dad, Tej, wanted him to study his MBBS like Dhruv or go into engineering. So Om was told by his parents to give up on his dreams because a small town boy like him could never become a cricketer.
So what did Om do? Well he packed a bag and left his house so he could trained under the coach a.k.a Aarav Shetty at Ramakant National Cricket Academy. He trained hard day and night. He gave up all the sugary delicious junk in the world. He gave up his precious sleep. He gave up his comfort zone.
And now....
A 24 year old Om watched the match from the window before going to the changing room to grab his blue jersey shirt.
Om: Manpreet, tell Rahul that I am coming on the field to bat.
He said as he took off his white shirt to wear his Team India Jersey shirt.
Manpreet: are you sure? You sprained your ankle the other day.
Om: it was a small sprain and it's fine now. Just tell Rahul that I am taking over the batting duty.
Manpreet nodded before leaving to tell Rahul.

Bollywood...all of us grew up with Bollywood movies from Karan Johar's cheesy films with backwass endings and with films that were literally just musicals to now watching Netflix original Bollywood movies.
Many people dream to be like all the Bollywood superstars like Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, Dilip Kumar, Priyanka Chopra etc...but once again, many end up not chasing after a childhood dream due to what society expects them to be and also because of news of nepotism.
Juhu-born Gauri Kumari Sharma was only 5 years old when she saw Mother India on TV for the first time. At the age of 5, she decided that she wanted to be an actress. She would wear her mother or Nani's old clothes, apply lipstick then she would rehearse film dialogues and dance to Bollywood songs in front of the mirror
