The center point of all worlds and realities. The Nexus. A race called the children of bastion existed in the center of the Nexus, a world called New Eden. A place of wayfarers and world travelers. For centuries this race thrived as explorers, seeing what each world could offer them. There cities were golden, raised off the ground with the plentiful technologies they procured from other dimensions.
All of this was possible because of a substance called nexium. This substance mined from the never ending supply that the planets core offered. First given to them by the Bastion, who they worshiped as a god. Nexium, when used in tandem with a rift generator could tear temporary hole in space. This was how the exploring race of New Eden could jump to new worlds.
But. Twenty years ago, something changed. The world began to become unstable, disasters littering the surface. In an event dubbed, the calamity, Many lost their lives, many lost entire cities. The cause? Other worlds. Since New Eden was located at the literal center of the multiverse, a dimensional strain of sorts affected the world. The more the wayfarers traveled, the more the strain was on the world. And so, the high council put a stop to the one thing the children of Bastion new how to do best.
Without the other worlds resources and technologies, the world fell into disarray, a new militarized system put into place. And for a time the world was full of anarchy, until the Ark. The Ark was a ship designed to run off a minuscule amount of Nexium. This allowed the once wayfaring race explore once more... with a twist. No longer the peaceful race it once was, now on the hunt to find resources and control the multiverse...
